Trying to find cover for 2003 200 SSi

Point well taken!!! I was hoping for a sunny day to get things cleaned up, but since that doesn't appear to be anywhere in sight I took a picture anyway. Do not mind the gloomy, rainy driveway picture! Maybe I should turn the boat into an Ark if it keeps raining...At least I have a good chance to see how the water runs off. The inside of the boat is staying dry and the water runs off pretty good. I may raise the bow pole just a bit. Also note the white drawstrings on the cockpit cover, this is what allows me to unwrap the drawstring to put the cover on with the bimini top poles in place. When the top is not up, I simply draw the string tight and everything closes up to stay dry.

    Impeller change

I "think" that on the Merc, you need to separate the outdrive to get at it. Here's a decent video: http://www.youtube.com/user/TcElectronicsMarine#p/u/6/0QC6_j2_wmA On the Volvo, you can get at the water pump from inside the boat as its on the front of the engine and is fairly easy to change.

Trying to find cover for 2003 200 SSi

Well, I got the boat out of the canvas shop today and I must sat that they did a great job! I went with separate bow and Sunbrella cockpit covers. They even rigged up the design so that I can leave my bimini top up and still get the covers on while at my morring. This is great for me as when on my mooring, its a pain to try and disassemble the bimini top poles at the end of the boating day. It cost me $1,100 +tax which I am pleased with considering that my next lowest quote was $1,900 plus tax.

    JBL MR15-B Stereo Replacement?

Well my eBay JBL MR-145 purchase finally showed up and I am pleased to say that it is Plug and Play as far as the old wiring goes and it works great! The remotes also work. My only regret is that I spent so long messing with the old stereo before deciding to buy a new one! The only real piece of work I had to do was with the trim piece. The new one didn't come with a plastic trim to make it fit the existing hole in the dash. (cutout is larger than both of the stereos) This was easily solved by removing the trim bracket from my old stereo and putting it on my new one and I am good to go! I did note that the driver side speaker is not working and the stern remote has only about half of the buttons working. I suspect that it may just need a bit of corrosion cleanup on the connections, but that is a project for sunny afternoon. It seems like its been raining here in Atlantic Canada for three straight weeks now!!! Thanks for everyone's help on getting this stereo replacement issue solved!

Trying to find cover for 2003 200 SSi

So my boat goes in to get a bow and cockpit cover made in a couple weeks. I am going to get the material ordered tomorrow. The only dilema is that the place that I am taking it to planned on putting the snaps for the cockpit cover on the top of the window frame, which means that the windshield itself will not be covered. My past two boats the cover went over the windowshield itself with the snaps in front of the windshield. For $100 more, they can make it go over the windsheild. I think that astecially I like this more as it seems more the norm. What do you guys think? I've seen it done both ways I guess.

    JBL MR15-B Stereo Replacement?

I've heard back from Prospec and below is their reply. I guess I'll have to take the plunge and hope for the best! ------Original Message------ From: Todd Allen Subject: Re: Enquiry from Prospec Electronics Online Store Sent: Apr 19, 2011 10:00 AM Either the MR-145 or 165 will work the remote plugs may not plug in but there are only 4 wires you would have to splice. Just match the colors. Regards, Todd Allen VP Sales/Mkt/PD On Apr 19, 2011, at 12:00 AM,: > I am looking for a replacement stereo for my 2003 Chaparral boat that will work with the current wired remotes in the boat. The stereo that I need to replace is a JBL MR15-B and the wired remotes are REM 10/20. Can you advise what stereos are essentially plug and play compatible without having to rewire anything? I cannot locate an MR15 as it has been discontinued.

    JBL MR15-B Stereo Replacement?

Well your remotes look a lot more modern than mine! It looks like according to what I see on the back on the remote, that I have a REM 10/20. I am still a bit uncertain if I should proceed on getting the MR145 as it does not make mention anywhere that it supports anything earlier than the REM25. Do you have the same wires coming out of the back of your remote? (See attached picture)

    JBL MR15-B Stereo Replacement?

Perhaps this is the answer that I am looking for? "This package consists of one JBL MR145S stereo receiver. This unit is compatible with older JBL remotes(REM25 and similar) and will work as a replacement for MR4, MR5, MR16, and MR15." http://www.rocktheboatelectronics.com/html/55406.htm

    JBL MR15-B Stereo Replacement?

Do you think that the MR16 is the same wiring configuration as the MR15? That'd be great if I could use the MR145 as it is much more easily available with the AUX input on the front and a fair price.

    JBL MR15-B Stereo Replacement?

The stereo on my Chaparral 2003 200SSI is shot and needs to be replaced. I am looking for a replacement that will work with my factory wired remotes that are installed. Does anyone know what JBL models are compatible in terms of wiring and dash size as I cannot find the MR15 available for sale as it has been discontinued. I do see an MR16 (re-manufactured) on the web so will consider that one if it is compatible. It does have an aux input for an IPOD on the back of the unit. The only problem with that one is that the shipping to Canada is more than the unit itself! I assume that if I found a compatible model, I could simply plug the harnesses back together from the new one and everything would work?

Trying to find cover for 2003 200 SSi

Great information guys! I've shopped the work around a bit and I've got a decent price lined up to get a mooring and cockpit cover made, snaps installed on boat, etc. Despite it being a bit more expensive, I'll probably enjoy my boat a lot more by having the right solution! Thanks for your help!

Trying to find cover for 2003 200 SSi

Hi there, I just bought a 2003 Chaparral SSi and I am looking to get a cover for it. None of the sites (Overtons for example) list covers for the 200 SSi, but they do list the 200 SSE. Would the dimensions be the same with the only differences being trim, options, etc.? Ideally I am looking for a solution that allows me to put a cover on while tied up to my mooring on the water. By having the extended swim platform, I should be able to work my way back from the bow of the boat with a full cover. I've got my eye on a cover at Overton's, a couple support poles, and some suction cup tie downs that will hopefully keep the cover in place and not pool rain when I leave the boat in the water for extended periods of time. The best solution would be to get snaps installed and a bow/cockpit cover made - but I was quoted $1,900.00 which is way more than I want to spend! So I guess back to my original question - would the boat dimensions be the same between the SSE and SSi models? Thanks!
