    Holding tank removal

I ordered it from Ezell Inc. who was the original tank manufacturer. It was made out of .090" thic aluminum. The new one will be .125" and better last a lot longer.

    Holding tank removal

I need to replace the leaking aluminum holding tank on our 240 Sig. Is there an easy/proper way to remove the white reinforced hoses from the tank. After loosening the clamps, the hoses are still very tight. The hose fittings also seem to have some white sealent on them.

Signature 240 won't get on the plane

We have a 8.1L In our 240 Sig and would not want an engine any smaller. We boat between 3500 and 6000 feet elevation. Depending on load the boat will do just shy of 50 mph. One time boating at the 6000 foot location I had a load of rather large people and the boat had a hard time getting on plane. Once on plane it did great. So, there are many things that you need to look at to determine if you have an appropriate power package for your boating conditions and if everything is operating as it should.

    Volvo dps trim problem

Thanks everyone for the information. It looks like I need to replace the pump.

    Volvo dps trim problem

Ok, I will check that out. The thing that botheres me is that there is no external oil leakage that I can find making me believe that there must be an internal leak possibly an internal check valve that is leaking by.

    Volvo dps trim problem

Anyone know if these pumps are repairable or require a complete replacement?

    Holding tank level indicator

Thanks for the response. A couple of times while boating on the last trip the toilet bowl partially filled itself causing me to think that the tank was full and the level gage still read power. I won't worry so much now that you explained that it won't read until the tank is fuller. Thanks again.

    Volvo dps trim problem

The oil in the pump reservoir is still at the full level. I will look closer at all the oil line connections though.

    Holding tank level indicator

The level indicator for the sewage holding tank on our 240 Sig has always just shown "Power". Any thoughts on what might be the problem?

    Volvo dps trim problem

Just returned from a great trip to Lake Powell and had a problem with the outdrive trim. While under way and after trimming up, the outdirve would drift lower causing me to trim back up every several minutes. There are no oil leaks and no visible problems. I suspect that something is wrong with the trim pump. It is a Volvo Penta 3860879 pump. Any thoughts on what the problem and repair would be?

    Rinker vs Chaparral

Bought a 2000 Rinker 216 bowrider with 300 hp mag Merc. Would do 52 mph here at 4800 fit elevation. Great boat for the money and had no problems at all with it. The kids loved it. Sold it after 7 years then bought a used 2003 Chap 240 Signature in 2012. Ended up spending 2 deer on repairs. Love the Chap and never looked back.. 49 mph at this elevation and a much smoother ride. Nice interior and more usable for us now that kids are gone. I agree with posters above. Keep looking for a good boat that will better fit your needs as they do change as time goes by. I guess what I am saying is if you go used it is less expensive to try something different when your needs change. Just don't be in a hurry when shopping. The right one will come along.

    First trip

Congrats on the great boat. Good choice on the engine as the altitude here really lowers the power. Maybe we can meet up sometime.

What kind of boat is this?

Took the pictures of this boat in Antigua. I thought the boat looked amazing and was wondering what it was. I wish there were some markings on it so I could look up the specs. Sure would love to go for a ride.

What kind of boat is this?

Anyone know what brand/model this boat is? It has no identification on it that I could see. The back end looks like a giant meat grinder. I would guess it is somewhere around 45 feet long. ht http://i1173.photobucket.com/albums/r587/Justdirt1/IMG_0920_zps8e210a27.jpg
  15. Our 240 Sig will do just over 49 mph at 4,500 feet elevation where we live. Elevation, humidity, ambient and other factors all add up to what your performance will be. If your engine is running as designed and the boat is propped correctly to where you can get to near top rpm at wide open throttle, your top speed will depend on factors such as boat weight, hull design, aerodynamics, a clean hull bottom and other factors. Short of running side by side with a boat exactly like yours loaded the same, what you think your top speed should be will be just a guess. With that said, if you we're boating where I usually do, I would guess you should be able to run 45 to 47 mph.
