  1. Thank you everyone. The prop is attached to the lower, so I would have the appropriate size assuming we had the same size boat. I appreciate the feedback on this.
  2. i need a new out drive. A buddy of mine has an alpha one gem two 1.64R gear, but mine is a 1.84R. Is it still comparable? Can I use it?
  3. Thanks. I'm not going back to the boat until next weekend. I will check it like you suggested.
  4. Rich - I have dangling a blue wire and two black wires that were connected to the original gauges light. I mirrored the other purple and black wires per my original gauge. Each gauge has a blue wire and two black wires attached to their respective lightbulb. I have the purple wire(starter) and black wire connected to the gauge quote name="RichMarionOhio" post="327697" timestamp="1436799720"]The "dangling" wire..... is it blue or yellow? If blue, that is the positive to the gauge lights. The yellow wire would be a ground. Did you hook your digital gauge to a yellow wire or even better yet, run a new wire back to the negative side of the battery. Also, by hooking the positive side of your gauge directly to the starter positive, your gauge will be "live" all the time which would be a parasitic draw on your battery. Better to hook that positive side of the gauge to the switched side of your ignition switch.
  5. I replaced my original volt gauge with a two wire (pos & neg) digital volt gauge. The volt gauge only reads 8-8.5 volts when the boat is idling, but i know this is incorrect. My boat would read in the double digits with the previous gauge. At 8.5 volts my boat shouldn't start. Per its schematics, I hooked it up to the starter wire and a ground wire. I do have a wire kind of just dangling that was for the light bulb in the old gauge. I think its just an additional ground wire.
  6. I've been the only one boating numerous times. I just take it slow and don't venture far out. Denny - how do you like the lowrance fish finder? I have been eyeing one for months! My newest finds are a slow oil drip in bilge area by the filter (not sure where though), my bilge pump bracket rusted and broke, and my hatch leaks water into cuddy. i need to pull the boat out this week and fix. Fun Fun
  7. The wire is 4/0 but I doubt it's the original wire. Which is why I asked
  8. Same siZe for main ground?
  9. Ok great. I'm going to replace the wire and do the dielectric grease. What's the difference between 2 gauge and 2/0 gauge? I looked at a photo and it does go to starter
  10. All, The red cable going from my engine to the battery is overly long. It's at least 3ft and I only need a 18" power cable. The extra dangle by the belts. Makes me nervous Any idea what the correct size should be? I thinks it's a 4/0 gauge. Is that correct? Secondly, it's goes to the starter correct? (Not engine like said above) the starter connecter has dark dirty greas on its connector. Do you think that's the electro grease stuff? Should I wipe off and apply clean clear grease?

  12. Outstanding Denny. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Have you thought about upgrading all your gauges? I have the same blue style oil gauge and I'm debating the full upgrade
  13. I had a grinding noise last year and it was my gimbal bearing.
  14. Specs, maintenance history, and good photos. Those three will sale your boat
  15. I appreciate it.
