    Running lights

Your getting off topic and rambling. You in the fog has nothing to do with why his Nav lights are not working. Just that simple. And I never said that I do care!

    Running lights

I get it. Maybe I should not have said, lets get back on point. But I could not figure out what fog had to do with Nav lights. On that point a agree too. "than disappearing".

    Running lights

I believe it was a spot light. I have seen boaters around here do it. The bigger question is, what where you doing out there. In the past few weeks that was not a fog that just rolled in. But one that was there around 4am and thinned out as the day went.

    Running lights

How would you know that? We have not heard from Fish Head. Have you read his new post on that? Oh you are still on the fog I take it.

    Running lights

Lets get back on point. So what your saying is that you turned on every switch and the Nav lights never come on? I would than check the beaker/fuse and than the switch.

Is a barrier coat necessary ?

I did my own, on a 30 footer. It took me 2 hours to prep. I would use contrasting colors on the barrier vs the bottom paint. So you can tell how much is bottom paint is wearing.

Is a barrier coat necessary ?

Just to keep it simple. If its in the water for most of the season. Put the barrier coat on and talk to your boating neighbors to see whats the best bottom paint for your waters. You can do the work your self. Its not hard.
  15. You are better off running new wires. Just make sure you use a breaker/fuse in line some how

    Low drive lube warning

The last you changed the drive oil, did you wait 12 to 24 hours and check it again? That oil is so heavy, that you could of had a air pocket. You should always check it the next day because most likely it would have gone down.
  17. On that note, to each his own. If thats what you/he wants thats great. But both devices from Yacht Devices, takes about 5 min each to install. Now you might have to move pins on the gateway. All connections can be done from the helm on a Volvo. Each device from them is about 190 bucks. In my case, I have no need for Bluetooth since Garmin chart plotters have WiFi in them. Others may too...………. If you have a Garmin chart plotter you can turn on WiFI. Than download there free App, and see what ever is on your chart plotter and control it from your phone or laptop. So having Bluetooth is not needed if your chart plotter is a Garmin. In other words, the gateway is sending engine data on the NMEA2k network, your chart plotter is seeing it on its screen, than you WiFi into it and see that same data and control the plotter. No need to spend extra money unless thats what you want. Seams like a lot of work to do the same thing. Cost for the Easy Connection is around 375 and that cable to go from the engine compartment to the helm I "think" cost extra.
  18. Yacht Devices WiFi connection, which would give you the same info. Is a 5min install. Just connect it to the NMEA2k network and your done. Cost is around 175.
  19. I can say at least on Vovlos that it retains its codes. I can't explain Todds problem but if you think about, it would not make sense for that to happen. Case in point. I bought my boat new but is it was a left over 2 years old. I told them to change out the impellers because they would take a set. After a week one engine over heated. Came back on one engine into my slip. I alway turn the batteries off. Two days later the mechanic came down and the code was there.

    2008 350 Signature NMEA 2000

Please remember that Seatalk is how Raymarine devices send data to each other. NMEA2k is based on that setup/protocol. Case in point.. Yacht Devices sent me a Seatalk gateway. Not a NMEA2k one! To send it back since there in Europe, was big bucks. With a litte digging on the net. I made up a cable that from the Seatalk connector to NEAM2k. Its been working for 2 years now.

Raymarine uses Seatalk. Which you just need a adapter to go from one to the other.

    2008 350 Signature NMEA 2000

The engines uses the J1939 protocol. The gateway is just that, a gateway from one protocol to the other. You could remove the gauges and install NMEA2k gauges. OR as Taxas mentioned, go with multi display units. As to Hatem : "Converting the analogue gauges to digital might need a few extra boxes or units to help with that, I would think." No, you have the gateway.

    2008 350 Signature NMEA 2000

Thats not the case since he is using Yacht Devices. You went the route of V.P.
  24. I would plug into the power station with all the breakers off. Turn on your main breaker, than one by one turn on each breaker until it pops. This will/should isolate it.
