My wife does a great job loading the boat on the trailer. It took some time but practice made her perfect at launching a loading. Plus, in case of an emergency it is great to have someone that knows what they are doing and feel comfortable doing it.

I have a lab and two lab mixes, nails are not a problem for us. I keep the nails short and pleny of vinyl protector on the seats. Having the pets on board completes a great day on the water.
