lower end no longer looks great....decided to try out percy priest and doing about 15 mph through a channel and caught a huge rock and did some fiberglass damage as well as put a huge hole in the front of the lower unit. luckily this was the last time i had planned to go out for this year. now to winterize the motor and work on a new lower unit along with fiberglass repairs. ugh my luck.

hey guys sorry for the long wait, everything is good. got motor rebuilt and installed and got it out on lake normandy a few times now. it is nice and quiet out there this time of year. only a few bass boats. she runs great though the shift cable will be getting replaced over the winter and some interior work done now that the wife sees the boat works and is a keeper. kids love it too. now for some pics.... it needs cleaning but i just wanted to get it out before year end and i did!!!

Long time but still haven't been on the water. Cracked the block, bought a $150 motor from a friend. Rebuilt it, got it running last night but i tightened the shift rod in the out drive all the way down not thinking it required a certain height. Got it out tonight and will fix that thrn a few more checks and i will put it on the water after some pressure washing and vacuuming...this weekend. FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Does anyone know if the newer 5.3L will fit in place of my current 5.0L 305? I have access to one free and want to make sure it will fit before rebuilding it.

Well still haven't got this thing in the water. It seems I didn't winterize it well, found no water flowing into the engine after I thought I had winterized it and then both sides of the block are now cracked. I have another engine lined up that needs rebuilding. I found this valve on the rear of the engine that was separated and water coming from it, it appears the previous owner tried to jbweld it. What is it so I can buy another???

well i finally got the outdrive reassembled and installed back onto the boat. the engine is very loud...exhaust wise but the outdrive in gear is nice and quiet. it does have a slight grind when going into gear from neutral. im sure an adjustment to the cable will do the trick. i was going to take it out this past weekend b/c of the nice weather but Friday morning i realized i had not transferred the boat into my name nor gotten tags. so i rushed over to the county clerks to find out that the seller did not have the bill of sale notarized and the county clerk will not accept the bill of sale if it has not been notarized. great! so i called them and they are currently out of town but returning this week. so i will be meeting her at our bank to get it notarized and then to get tags. unfortunately its supposed to be 66 and rainy this coming weekend and my sons cub scout pack is going camping. just lovely! so looks like we get to camp in the rain! hopefully we have another great weather weekend before winter so i can take this out for its maiden voyage(to me). if not good weather ill be wearing a hoodie and still taking it out on the lake.

this boat is kicking my butt.... i have been trying for days and days to get the alignment tool to go in, i cant get it to even get in the splines unless i beat the crap out of it, then i can almost not get it out. i decided to try and align the engine since maybe that is why the gear assembly took a crap. so i pulled the top nuts off the mounts and hooked up an engine hoist and slowly lift all while pushing in on the alignment tool. (**i also tried just by 1/4 turns on the bolts before engine hoist**) i have already removed the gimbal bearing 3-4 times to make sure everything is good. slid the alignment tool right in with the bearing off to see if i could tell how it was angled, couldnt. any advice? been watching you tube videos and the manual (which is crap for help) and reading other random boat forums. ive tried all their advice and nothing has made it yet. i am about ready to take it to a boat shop and ask them to just align it and i will handle the rest. any idea how much they would charge for that?

there are the chrome vents on the rear of the boat that have tubes going towards the engine. on the starboard side there is something one of the hoses attaches to. on the port side they are just laying loosely behind the seat area. am i missing something that these hoses for breather or something should be hooked up?

i actually found them, i think the price is fair but not really looking to spend that much at this time. i may have found a local seller for the upper gear assembly, waiting for a response with pictures.

any website for the sei drive i can look into? i spoke to a buddy of mine that was in the coast guard and repaired their boats on a daily basis, spoke to him about the unit he said he would not reuse it at all b/c of all the metal that cycled through it. so replacing is my only option.

well bad news, it was not the gimbal bearing making the knocking noise. there was water and the bellows were worn but the bearing was fine and still had newer grease on it. pulled the top cover off of the upper gear assembly and found that 2 and a partial tooth broke off of the pinion gear. so now i am on the hunt for a good used upper gear assembly. anyone??

that looks great. i wont ask you to go through that trouble, surely it cant be that hard to cut some plywood out into that shape and put a brace for the back of the seats then cover it with vinyl wrap and pad it. i will definitely get to it probably during the winter.
