  1. Thanks! I will get help and try again tomorrow. Have any of you unbolted the hinges and removed to whole hatch. Thought it might be easier to reach the ladder bolts with the hatch gone.
  2. I am trying to manually open the engine hatch on my 236 ssx. I pulled the cable to release the pin. The pin came out part way, but didn't come all the way out of the lift cylinder. I still cannot get it to open up. Is the pin supposed to come all the way out? I am trying to get the hatch to open up at least 90 degrees to get to my swim platform ladder to fix a leak. Will the hatch lay down backwards 180 degrees? Have any of you guys taken the hatch all the way off? If so does it go back on fairly easy? Thanks for the help!
  3. Thanks guys. I will get rpm's when I get it in the water this spring. Don't remember what the max rpm's were.
  4. Got a prop question for you 236 ssx guys. Just bought a new to me 07 236 ssx with 350 mag b3 last fall. We only got it out a few times before winter. Never had a boat with b3 before. Really liked the boat but thought it might get out of the hole a little better. I noticed when I winterized it that it has 28 pitch props. What do most of you guys run? Will 26's make much of a difference? We boat on a small lake so top end is not important. Ski and tube a lot. Thanks!
  5. Escarter1979 Did you end up doing the trim tabs? Just bought a 07 236 ssx. Thinking about doing the same? Any of you guys that have, where did you put the indicatior?
  6. The closer it gets to summer, the further I am wiling to travel.lol For the right boat I will go about anywhere. Hoping to stay away from salt water. Thanks nkdenton, I will see what I can find. I have looked at ebay some, not much on there for me. I missed out on a 08 236 ssx last year about 10 blocks from my house. Still kicking myself!
  7. I have been mainly looking on boat trader and craigslist for a boat. Am I missing any other good places to look. If anyone hears of anything I am looking for a heads up would be great.
  8. Brick, it is an 07 with a 5.0 vp. I just found out it is a single prop. Don't think I am interested to that power combo. It is close so I think I will still go look at the boat. Never been around a 220. Seems to be a lot more 5.0's than 5.7's out there.
  9. Thanks guys. Going to look at a 220 this weekend.
  10. Nkdenton- while I love your boat I have been looking at the older ones. Not the wide tech. Want to pay cash so 30 ish is my budget. With the way the 230 swim platform is does it make the interior space about the same as the 220? Tomnjo- are you happy with your upgrade? Much difference in ride. I think 220 is the smallest I want to go. Just four of us, but four more join us often. Is four adults and four kids comfortable in a 220? Thanks again, this is a great resource!
  11. When did they stop making the 230 ssi?
  12. Thanks guys! I am thinking the 224 is a little small also. Futzin, have you been around a 246? Much difference in room than yours? I really like the look of the 220's. Any 220 guys wish they had a 246? I I don't want any bigger boat than I feel I need.( if that makes any sence) Seems that a lot of 220's if find have a 5.0. Hoping for a 5.7/B3 set up. Scared to get a salt water boat, shoud I be?
  13. Dang I fell for it. Knew better! Sorry!
  14. Just saying hi. First time poster long time lurker. Thanks to everyone for contributing to a great place to get questions answered. Current owner of a 93 crownline 196 with a 350. Looking to upgrade to a better ride, more room and fuel injection. Decided after countless hours of research I want a Chaparral. My budget requires a used boat. (30's) I narrowed the model to a 220 ssi, 230 ssi, 236 ssi/ssx, 224 sunesta, 244 sunesta, 246 ssi. My problem is being in the middle of Kansas it is tough to look at all the different models. I want the most interior room I can get in my budget. I see that some models share the same hull, does that mean the inside is the same size? I realize the 246 is the biggest, but how much difference is there in the rest of the models. I have looked at a 236 ssi and didn't seem like much more room than my 196. Thanks for any input! Kyle
