  1. I found the depth display on ebay for one benjamin and ordered it. Went to pick up the boat and the existing display was working. Love it when she self-heals! Now I have a spare in case I need it in the future. Still have no idea what to do about the throttle box. I looked in my VP manual and it couldn't find anything about it...
  2. will do. It doesn't really bother me that much but I drove a couple outboards in February that had silky smooth levers and it got me thinking there might be something wrong with mine. I guess it was my fault for asking a mechanic what they thought! haha How would I go about cross referencing a generic part?
  3. I have a Garmin GPS/fish finder which has a depth meter in it so that was my excuse to them to not have to shell out the dough for a whole new system. I just kind of like having everything work the way it should I guess... I see them on eBay for a reasonable price. Wonder if there are differences in models... I don't have easy access to the boat.
  4. I have a 2003 Signature 260 with 5.7 Volvo Penta Duo. I asked them to look at the throttle cable because it was kind of hard to maneuver. Been that way since I bought the boat six years ago. I thought it would be the throttle cable but they are saying that the whole "box" needs to be replaced and are quoting 5 hundo plus labor to replace. They estimate two hours of labor. I'd rather try to do it myself unless someone tells me that the mechanic is smoking something. Thoughts? Where do I get that "box"? My depth gauge is not showing the bottom part of the numbers. I assumed it would be an easy fix to replace the gauge. wrong again! they said the whole thing needs to be replaced (including the transducer) because the system is so old. Quoted another 5 hundo or so. Anyone know if I can just find a new gauge? I can't seem to load a second picture. But the gauge says "Faria" on it.
  5. at least change it this year since it might be three years old already.
  6. you're just looking for the metal flaps? did they corrode? or does your whole system need to be replaced?
  7. I'll check the fuses near the battery switch (thanks!). I don't know why I didn't think to look there.... Yes, my old alarm went bad so this is the brand new replacement. I verified that there is no power on the wire.
  8. does anyone know if and where there is a fuse for the CO2 alarm in the cabin? I don't seem to be getting power to mine....
  9. an old thread, woke up from the dead. My Fontana faucets started leaking as mentioned in the beginning of this thread and here's how I fixed them. The insides valve portion of the cartridge is ceramic and crumbles after age (see the first picture, the left cartridge). Mine was from 2003. <a href="http://s1266.photobucket.com/user/drapaki/media/IMG_6198_zpstyfm0hog.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj522/drapaki/IMG_6198_zpstyfm0hog.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_6198_zpstyfm0hog.jpg"/></a> The manufacturer of the cartridges (at least currently) is a company named Donner. I found a supplier in South Carolina that sells them for about 22 deer each, 8 for shipping and they were to my door within a few days. https://www.fdsupply.com/ You'll need a cold and hot (they turn different). Here are the part numbers: <a href="http://s1266.photobucket.com/user/drapaki/media/IMG_6207_zpsic7mlieh.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj522/drapaki/IMG_6207_zpsic7mlieh.png" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_6207_zpsic7mlieh.png"/></a> and here's what they look like compared to the old one, which is in the middle. <a href="http://s1266.photobucket.com/user/drapaki/media/IMG_6206_zpsjstqwbu4.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj522/drapaki/IMG_6206_zpsjstqwbu4.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_6206_zpsjstqwbu4.jpg"/></a> This was half the price that Ferguson's plumbing quoted. half!
  10. OK. thanks. I'll look to see if the harness is loose/easy to fix. The drive was left in thee up position for a while this winter (in the water) and I'm wondering if that played into this condition. I did some looking at pictures and it looks like it goes from the outside of the out-drive, through the transom, up to the dash. Even if I have to replace the harness, it doesn't sound like a difficult/expensive problem. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
  11. Watch that little needle dance! If anyone has seen this problem before, and can share how to fix it.. I would be very grateful!
  12. it would be great if one of the Annapolis guys could hold on to that mold. It would significantly reduce the costs of the next door that has to be made, for whomever that might be. I'd do it but I don't have a garage or barn I can keep it in...
  13. the police needs a new, bigger tow vehicle.
  14. spray paint a stencil in the engine room. ideally someplace that can be seen from the Coast Guard boat when the hatch is opened so they don't have to come aboard and stick their head in.
  15. ordered mine. can't wait to break speed records...
