  1. Awesome. Glad everything is working out!
  2. Make sure you have a local trusted VP mechanic. They seem harder to find. What outdrives do you have on the Chap? What are your primary end goals for the boat?
  3. Same here. 5/6 but I was coming from a F250 with the 6.7L that didn't even realize that 6k# was back there. Wish I still had that truck but was totaled with a series of several accidents including a 6' embankment. It protected my wife and kids with every accident, but couldn't justify another diesel at the time.
  4. I ended up coming back late a few weeks ago. It was a clear night with a good moon and wasn't too bad really. Wish I wasn't having to get ready for work. I wouldn't have minded easing into a cove, leaving my anchor light on and taking a nice peaceful nap.......at least until the skeeters started biting.
  5. 5.0L i wanted it for the long haul and didn't want to mess with forced induction. I expect to get 200k+ out of it. The new Armadas are very very nice. I'm glad you're receiving good service out of yours. Ive not had much trouble out of my Yukon. They replaced a GPS antenna. Otherwise gas and oil changes.
  6. It says mercury in the ad but you noted VP in your post. I can't imagine being too different. A switch is a switch in this case.
  7. tolson, I hope you have better luck with your 2nd gen Armada than I had with my 2015. A/C issues, Tranny replaced twice, electrical isssues. Went through the lemon law process with it. If the transmission and A/C were suitable with no electrical issues, I would have loved it. Much preferred the IRS, and dual head rest DVD players and the room. I ended up getting a 2016 Yukon Denali. With 420/460 it has plenty of power. Rear leveling bags it rides well and I actually prefer it to my 2016 F150 except in stiff crosswinds or on a slippery ramp. That's when I prefer the longer WB and 4wd of my truck. The 8 speed tranny in the Yukon also plays a huge role. It seems to always be in a good powerband and doesn't seem to hunt as much as my 6 speed in my F150
  8. Do you have a picture? I can try to look it up for you
  9. Have you tried volvopentastore.com
  10. I'd also use the oil spec'd by the manufacturer
  11. If it's from the current impeller, you need to replace it. If it's from an old impeller, make sure the smaller lines from the Tstat housing are clear. If the water system is like mine, the water comes from the transom, through the oil cooler and to the raw water pump. In other words, no pieces should be in the oil cooler
  12. To me it sounds like after you add everything you want, you'd of been better off optioning out a new boat.
  13. On my SX-M, the Drive stays pretty cool. I can go for a 1 hour cruise at 3500 RPM, jump off to go for a swim and barely feels warmer than the surrounding water
  14. Will do. I was down there last week on Wednesday. Hardly any boats at all
  15. Hey brick, had my brother show me around West Point the other day. Spent about 4 hours cruising around. Brought a GPS. Over 83 miles traveled. Marked a few nice spots and also managed to get up to 52 mph with just me and 1/4 tank of gas at 4800 rpm. Been a long time since I've ran around that lake.
  16. Having to pull a motor for a routine part maintenance item is just inconceivable. Don't go back to that "mechanic"
  17. Figured it was in the gauge package but they should power on automatically regardless.
  18. Should be a LCD readout on the tach. If the screen isn't working, it's a bad LCD screen.
  19. It's a "me" mentality thing. Their only concerned about me and they should have the right of way and me me me. Common sense is not common anymore unfortunately. I see this frequently on Allatoona. I don't allow the kids to tube in high traffic areas. It just isn't safe. There are plenty of smaller areas to tube the kids in with minimal to no traffic. Now that school is back in though, I'll be "forced" to boat on the weekends where typically I tried to go out during the week.
  20. Looks good. What motor and drive setup?
  21. Something catastrophic that shredded the bellows. Glad you're ok
  22. When it dies while running will the motor turn over or absolutely nothing after it dies?
  23. When it won't start, will it turn over or absolutely nothing happens? Does it attempt to start and dies? Are you getting any warning tones? When it does run, does it start easily and run well?
  24. Don't feel bad. I've tried for a girl but have failed 4 times! Mine are aged 10, 7, 3, 2. At 36yo, I'm done trying as well. I also preferred the 287 for the reasons mentioned above. Both are awesome though.
  25. I've always enjoyed being out on the boat alone. Sounds like you had a wonderful day except the dock incident.
