    236 Sunesta

I have a 2005 236 Sunesta. I'm having some problems with the engine at idle. It runs fine at full speed and in between. But after about 30 minutes or so, at low speed and at idle the engine struggles. It surges a bit at idle and sounds like it wants to stall. Go to full throttle or in between it runs fine again. The engine is a 5.0 GXI-E Volvo Penta with about 225 hours on it. I changed the distributor and my mechanic said that all the codes were good on the computer. My mechanic thinks it might be the low pressure side of the fuel pump. Has anyone experienced this sort of problem in the past. Thanks for any help.

    Shifter not engaging

Mechanic told me that the cable needs to be replaced. He lubed it and it works now. Replacement part is on its way.

    Shifter not engaging

I have a 2005 236 Sunesta with a Volvo penta. Yesterday while out on the water, I went to shift into forward and the shifter would not engage. Engine ran fine, could rev it up, just could not get it in gear. I do think it is something in the shifter. The button in the center of the controller appears to not be working. Any ideas, my mechanic has a two week wait at this time. Thanks.

    Engine alarm

My Sunesta is a V 5.0L GXI MPI 1.60-sx with a Volvo penta out drive. My mechanic should get to it next week, I was looking for some early answers.

    Engine alarm

I was out for a ride yesterday and the engine alarm came on and shut me down to a low speed. I was with another boat so to be safe I was towed in. The temp gauge was where it always is and so was the oil pressure. Any ideas? This never happened to me before. I have a 236 Sunests, 2005. Thanks

    Prop cavitation

Thanks for everyones advice. I put the old prop back on and took the current prop off. Gave it a test ride this monrnig and it ran great. The old prop does not have a hub kit but is a solid geared prop. When I put the new one on, the one with the hub kit, it ran good for about four hours, the the problem happened. When i took it off this morning it was wet and had water trapped in it. I really think the store sold me the wrong prop. Anyway all's good and thanks for the help.

    Prop cavitation

My Sunesta 236 ran great today for 2 hours. Slowed down to an idle for a about 15 minutes and then when I took off it seemed as if the prop was cavitating just after take off. Put her away and checked the prop and everything seemed normal. Anyone got any ideas, or was it just happen stance.

    Boat carpet

I have a 05 236 Sunesta. The rubber backing is coming off the carpet and sticking to he floor. I guess it is time for new carpet. Has anyone dealt with anyone that they could reccomend? I found a couple of places on line that require that you make a template and send it away. Does anyone have any hints? How did the template work? How was it putting the snaps in the carpet yourself? Thanks in advance for any helpful hints that I might get.

    Sunesta steering

I have a 2005 Sunesta 236 and was wondering if there is any grease fittings for the steering mechanism. It seems like my steering is a little herky jerky, it has a diffrent feel than previous years. Thanks

Sunesta bow and rear filler cushions

My Sunesta did not have the bow filler cushions either. Thought about a trim shop to make them for us but we had too many things to consider. Fit, color, and most important cushion density. We ended up buying perfectly matched cushions from the dealer. They were around 1200 deer. I,m not sorry at all about buying them, they fit like a glove and we use them all the time.
