  1. 537 hours. What do you mean by connection issues with the wire harness? Can you please expand on that? Thank you!
  2. engine serial number OM330554 Drive number OM144755
  3. Steady. One beep and the engine revs down for the length of the beep (1 second beep)
  4. I have a 2002 chaparral Signature 260 with a 350 mercruiser 5.7L. After a valve job (I.e. cylinder head cracked and boat had no power), wiring harness replacement, and raw water pump replaced, IAC motor replaced, and a few other things that I lost track of. We keep having an alarm go off and the boat loses speed momentarily. It’s a random alarm, I have not found any pattern and it happens at any point in time. I will say that sometimes it takes a little while until it starts, most times not until we get out of the dock. So when accelerate. After being on a plane for a while it does not happen anymore. FYI: I tried disconnecting the drive lube reservoir already. The one other thing I’ll add is that I my oil pressure gauge is broken shows max (80) but when connected to a computer it shows normal levels. Any help with this will be appreciated... I’m tired of spending money on this. ($7k+) I’ve had 3 mechanics look at it and they can’t figure it out. Thank you !!
  5. Hello! I know it's been a while since this issue, but I think I'm having the same problem. It sounds like the oil pressure sensor that reports to the computer was the problem, do you know where that sensor is? or what it looks like? Thank you !
  6. Thanks! It turned out to be the cylinder head being CRACKED! It has been a nightmare. Now that's fixed and it's mechanically sound. We kept having electrical issues so we replaced the wiring harness and coil. Now it does not want to stay on...it beeps and it shuts off and then it does not start again. My mechanic thinks it's the computer that may have been fried due to high temperature. Any idea of how to tell if the computer has to be replaced? It's a non-returnable part of $1800 I would not like to buy if it won't fix the problem....

  8. I bought it in October of 2016 and started using it after the winter in June '17. I did tune up and everything that was recommended by the Marina before I put it in the water. I put about 20-25 hours on it. Thanks!
  9. I have a 2002 Chaparral Signature 260 with a Mercruiser 350 MAG MPI. Since I bought it that I felt it was not giving me all the power it could. Now, it's been acting up even more. It does not start unless you accelerate it and it smokes quite a bit. A mechanic that happened to be at the marina stopped by and connected his laptop to it. No error was found. He said he did not have all the tools he needed, but his next step would have been checking fuel pressure. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. The engine has 520 hours. Thank you!

    Oil pressure gauge not working

Thanks everybody! #iggy: I'm not sure about J1939 diagnostics. I assume this is a device you connect to the boat to get diagnostics on the boat? Is this something that can be bought? Where would you connect it? Thanks! #TNBrett: yes, it goes from zero to max as soon as the key is turned on. The mechanics from the marina have been messing with it and I lost confidence in their work so, yes, they may have replaced the wrong oil pressure sensor. I will take a closer look myself. #jdsdls05: I will try what you suggested. What does a transducer look like? Thanks!
  11. I have a 2002 Chaparral Signature 260 and it has a 4-in-1 (voltage, trim up/down, oil pressure, temperature) gauge. Oil pressure is always maxed out. We replaced the sensor and measure oil pressure and appears normal. It seems to be the gauge. Any idea of whether these can be fixed? or where to get a new one? See pics attached for part # and look. In the picture the boat is turned off so the gauges are all the way down.

    Trim down relay problem?

Thanks Wingnut. I will verify tomorrow.

    Trim down relay problem?

Thanks Paulswagelock. I did a quick search online and it appears the trim pump assembly has two solenoids (one for up and one for down) and one of these needs to be replaced. These are not relays as I expected unless I'm missing something. Thanks again!

    Trim down relay problem?

Hello All, I recently purchased a 2002 Chaparral Signature 260. I am having issues with the trim down; it's intermittent. I think it's the down relay but since I do not have an electrical diagram of the boat, I am not sure where the relays are located. I found two relays above the engine but I am not sure these are it (see attached pic). Any help verifying these are the trim relays or help finding these would be very appreciated. Thank you!
