    Lake Powell Anchoring Question

Yes I have on the front hook under the bow and the stern transom eye under the swim platform. My post was a little confusing.

    Lake Powell Anchoring Question

I take 2 anchors and dig a hole like you do for the houseboat for the front and use a fluke anchor for both and hook it to the front and on to the transom eye. Never had a problem and sleep all night not worrying if it’ll be floating in the middle of the lake when it’s over. You could even go as far as driving some rebar in front of the anchor arms then bury it. That baby ain’t coming out. Those storms that pop up are epic !!! We had a family come down a few years ago that experienced a 45 min micro burst storm and went home after it was over. They spent a total of 2 hrs on the lake packed up and drove 4 hrs back home. Good luck on the trip. 2 weeks can’t come fast enough that’s when I’ll be down.

    Towing Survey/Question

When I purchased my boat from the previous owner he wasn’t quite sure how much it weighed on the trailer so the first thing I did was take it to the cat scale and weighed it off the truck it weighd just a little bit over 6000 pounds with a half tank of fuel. I am kind of in the market for a truck myself to pull my 2002 230 SSI I borrowed my uncles 2017 F150 with the eco boost and it was very impressive. It felt like I had more power in the pedal and wanted to go A week ago I rented a ram 2017 1500 w/ 5.7L with a hemi and was not very impressed. It’s pulled fine but it didn’t feel like there is much more there if I wanted. I was pulling up a good fairly good grade up one of the canyon to get to our local reservoir. I did have a 2008 ram 2500 with a Cummins in that pulled like animal? I think I’ve narrowed it down to the F 150 with an eco-boost or a diesel. Good luck on the truck quest.

    Lake Powell Boating Conditions

I have camped on the water at Powell for over 40 yrs and if there’s one bit of advice I can give is don’t waste your time at a hotel ! We boat and camp up at the north end of the lake bullfrog area and we have 3 families that stay at defiance house lodge and buy the time they get to our camp we have already had breakfast the best water to ski on and countless other things and if I’m lucky I’ve fished stripers boils before they even get on the water. If you have a house boat that makes it better ! If you have kids like mine I could not drag them away to head back to the hotel at the end of the day! There is something magical being on the lake at night sleeping under the stars! I will second what Phillbo said about the whales with the water lower this year they come up fast if your not paying attention. My 2 cents anyway. Hope you have a good trip down there. I’ll be down the end of August into September.

    Captains call exhaust

Had the boat out for the second time today since I purchased it . I have never had the captains call exhaust before and I was wondering if it was normal for a little exhaust to escape trough them when not turn on in the open position? There is a defiant sound when on but when off I noticed a little exhaust coming out this morning after they had been on for a while. Wasn’t sure if thats normal or not and if I should start investigating if it’s not.

    Norris Lake, TN Trip

Great pics it’s always fun to see family and friends enjoying the great things that come from boating. And it’s good to see some one on the ski , I have to agree with chap243 it is becoming a lost art! Looks like a awesome time. All very nice boats in your pictures.

Everything! Kids love the water sports I love driving and cruising listing the engine run. The guy I bought the boat from swears by it. I’m a newbie on the prop and boat so we’ll see. I would like a little more top end if I’m being honest.

    2000 235 SSI radio replacement

I too am looking at replacing what seems an archaic system from the previous owner had in it . I chuckled to my self when I say a 1st generation iPod charger cord and a aux jack going to the stereo! Both remote stations no longer work. I figured just replacing the whole system is the way to go.

I’ll be there a few days before Labor Day. Halls creek is awesome that time a year. In the morning and evenings I’ll watch from where we camp and jump in the boat to go get em! Nothing like being in the middle of a boil !

Thanks Phillbo for the numbers! We boat up at the north end. Been on that lake since before I could walk. With this chap ,I’d love to spend some time down south end. I’m really excited to see what she does down there.
