    Norris Lake, TN Trip

Great pics it’s always fun to see family and friends enjoying the great things that come from boating. And it’s good to see some one on the ski , I have to agree with chap243 it is becoming a lost art! Looks like a awesome time. All very nice boats in your pictures.

Everything! Kids love the water sports I love driving and cruising listing the engine run. The guy I bought the boat from swears by it. I’m a newbie on the prop and boat so we’ll see. I would like a little more top end if I’m being honest.

    2000 235 SSI radio replacement

I too am looking at replacing what seems an archaic system from the previous owner had in it . I chuckled to my self when I say a 1st generation iPod charger cord and a aux jack going to the stereo! Both remote stations no longer work. I figured just replacing the whole system is the way to go.

I’ll be there a few days before Labor Day. Halls creek is awesome that time a year. In the morning and evenings I’ll watch from where we camp and jump in the boat to go get em! Nothing like being in the middle of a boil !

Thanks Phillbo for the numbers! We boat up at the north end. Been on that lake since before I could walk. With this chap ,I’d love to spend some time down south end. I’m really excited to see what she does down there.

    High five props

I just recently purchased this 2002 230 SSI and it came with a high-five prop 17 pitch I’m curious if this is the right prop for this boat or if there’s a better set up? The guy bought it from had it on there and said it was a good all-around prop. I’ve never had one so I don’t know. My question to all of you is should I change it or leave it? The motor it’s on is a 5.7 Volvo Penta GXI with an SX outdrive. I’ve had the boat out on the water seems to run and plane just fine. Where I’m new to chaps and Volvo Penta I was just curious thanks in advance for any comments and advice.

    New to the chaparral family

Hello all. This is my first post on this forum. I’ve been looking through it for the past couple months and glad to see there’s so much information on this website for chaparral owners. I just recently bought a 2002 230SSI with a Volvo Penta 5.7 GXI SX out drive with 230 hrs on the gauge. This is my first boat with an Volvo Penta outdrive. My previous boat was a 1973 SS215 Slickcraft that was purchased new by my father and I inherited it when he passed away. I was sad to see it go but we have just outgrown it and with the kids into water sports it was hard to do that behind the slick craft ! That was one solid boat tell you what it was 45 years old and looks like it was maybe 10 to 15 it was very well taken care of. I haven’t seen too many post with people that have the 230s I’m anxious to hear about other owners that have the same boat or even the same year pros and cons things that I might need to pay special attention to maintenance wise I’m capable to do in my own service work for the most part I have already changed out the engine oil & filter outdrive oil and the impeller and have ran it In the water a week ago. I was very impressed by everything about the boat it seems to be a very well solid build boat which is exactly what I was looking for. I was also impressed with the Volvo it’s a huge difference going from 260 hp to 320 hp ! I love the look of the chaparral’s and I’ve been pretty impressed so far I think it was a good purchase. I’m glad to be a part of the chaparral family now thanks and safe boating.
