    Mercruiser Booster Pump Effective?

Must remove whatever is causing the restriction of water through the system. I went ahead and replaced BOTH fuel pumps while down there in case I had a problem with those. What a cruddy design. Apparently mercury was replacing these under warranted. Also...we used brass fittings instead of the cheap ones that break off! My internals still had all the paint on them - hoping I don’t have to revisit down the road. My boat was purchased after being used in brackish water.....she is in a fresh water now btw.....Volvo has had similar issues from what I’ve read. This was a nightmare until I came to this site!

    Mercruiser Booster Pump Effective?

Hopefully this is closure. Mechanic FINALLY got the problem recreated. Gauges showed very little fuel pressure when the issue happened. Replacing both fuel pumps. Once down, there...noticed the fuel cooler was packed with sand. So.....there is my problem. Hopefully my last question: Are these easily cleaned? Or will it need to be replaced? I purchased the boat in Nov 2018 with 113 hrs. I had the seller replace risers and manifolds prior to purchase. I guess I should have known the engine better and made this a contingency on sale as well. Hopefully this is it.

    Mercruiser Booster Pump Effective?

Ok. Mechanic replaced ignition coil. The boat started throwing a code. Hooked up to rinda - it was an EST -43(I think)....took new coil off and replaced with old. Checked all connections and no more codes. The boat died on me Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Almost made it all day all three days. Low idle, blower on - wouldn’t take throttle leaving no wake zone. Happened each day - open engine hatch and leave blower on - 20 min later starts up fine. Runs GREAT other than that i feel like I’m chasing a ghost here

Thank you. I believe it is actually just one beep, not 2. Do you have the list of problems associated with that? Also, After I turn the engine off the fuel gauge stayed stuck on the past full position. After a period of time it returned to the below empty position when turned off. Under power the fuel gauge operates appropriately

    Mercruiser Booster Pump Effective?

The saga continues.... Had a mechanic come out today. The gentleman suggested I replace the ignition module as there was oil on the outside of it? Couldn’t find anything else. Fuel pressure was perfect. 40 at idle and 43 while running. Anyways.....could not replicate the problem I’ve been having - go figure! mechanic leaves and About 2 hours later I drop the boat in the water for a quick run. Now, when I turn the key I get the initial “beep” but now I’m getting a second “beep” about 1 second after. This “beep” occurs about every 2 minutes and the issue happened again!!! Everything looked fine on the gauges. Couldn’t get it to fire and had to swim the boat into the lift. Called the mechanic up....he arrives 15 min later and it fired right back up. It was late so we didn’t take it out. Going back down tomm. Anyone know what this second “beep” means?

    Mercruiser Booster Pump Effective?

Gotta piggy back this thread. I'm going crazy trying to figure this thing out. I have a 2011 5.0L mpi and I'm experiencing the same thing! The boat is new to me. Purchased the boat with 113 hours and it now has 122 hours. First time:(april 24th) I Filled the tank up and ran the boat for 30-40 min. Stopped to eat. After eating the Boat fired up immediately, slow idle out of no wake zone and when I get on the throttle she won't respond. Boat doesn't start back after stalling. I went back down to the boat the next day and it fired right up and ran great. Second time: (may 18) Topped off the tank with fuel. Ran the boat for about 10 minutes after topping off with fuel. Waiting for friends in a no-wake zone and when trying to leave the no wake zone doesn't respond to throttle. I opened the engine hatch and sat for about 15 mintues...she fired right up and ran great the rest of the day. Third time: (may 19) Boat ran great with multiple starts/stops(about 3hrs worth). Had a period of slow idle going into my slip to pick a friend up. Turned the motor off for him to get on and get settled - about 20 min after turning the boat off we started to head out of the marina/slip and once again doesn't take throttle. Stalls and won't start. After 20 min....starts up and runs great. This is crazy! LOL

    Possible air intake valve ?

I’m going to replace the IAC. I think it’s getting stuck because I’m not getting an alarm. Is it just coincidence that after it sits for 15-20 min it starts back up and runs like nothing ever happened? Also, why the heck does it happen after spending time at idle speed? I’m thinking about replacing the fuel filter also. After it won’t take throttle and I turn it off....the boat won’t start. I can hear the fuel pump turn on, and the boat turns over but it won’t start. It’s like it’s not getting fuel!

    Possible air intake valve ?

Sounds very similar to my issue! I'm scratching my head about this. 2011 5.0 mpi merc with bravo 3 The boat has stalled out 3 times on me. The last two times happening on Saturday and Sunday. 122 hours on the engine. When I'm at idle speeds for a period of time (about 5-10 min) the boat refuses to take throttle when exiting the no wake zone and eventually dies out. After sitting for about 20 min....she fires right back up. The boat has ran great for us before and after these mishaps. Does this sound like a similar problem? Just trying to figure out where to start! I'll monitor this site or you can shoot me a direct email with any suggestions. I appreciate it! It's driving me crazy! ppuriefoy@outlook.com
