  1. I am.womdering if my boat covers require retreating for water resistance ? They are the original covers for my 08 190 SSI , they are intact and I would rather not replace. What do folks do to maintain them ? The larger cover has a white felt like substance underneath that is no doubt designed to prevent damage to the engine cover. This felt has become a bit tattered and the substance under it , some kind of white pasty latex has slowly disintegrated in white flakes throughout the boat. Is this repairable ? Perhaps someone knows where to order the felt / latex so I can have it sewn in again ?

  3. it hasnt been attempted yet but its a lean enough block with no salt water so im very hopeful. I guess we will see tonight ....thanks god its not an F150....
  4. well thats easy enough , i thought there might have been a 2 or 3 stage thing for torque specs, thats great thanks for the help
  5. hi there , about to replace this with a felpro gasket and I was hoping someone out there might have torque specs for the job ? Its a GM 5 liter in an 08 chapparal 190 ssi. Maybe someone can point to a site that would have the data ?
  6. so im ordering the fusion hideway unit ( wb670 )as well, the on board speakers ( 4 of them ) are planned for the amp that it comes with which i believe is 200 watts. The other amp is planned for the pair of fusion tower speakers SG-FT88SPWC , and the fusion 10 inch sub, SG-SL102SPW
  7. Hey thanks very much , can you point me towards the proper torque specs?
  8. hi there , my chaparral 190 5 litre v8 started making a ticking noise a few weeks ago. Its predominantly on launch , the manifold is leaking for sure. That said, I ordered fel pro gaskets as some on this forum suggested. Before I get too deep into the job , what other parts might I need to do the job ? Is it possible it could be the manifold itself? Just want to be prepared. Thanks
  9. Hi there , i have an 08 190 SSI with a 220 HP 5 litre in the back , I suspect its a GM block but i cant see anywhere to confirm this. I need to order exhaust manifold gaskets and want to make sure its not a ford block. Thanks
  10. the set up is designed for the folks that are wakeboarding / tubing behind me. To each their own !
  11. I dont have the ability to shore charge the batteries unfortunately , does this indicate that i should get a larger alternator ? Also, Im not sure i understand the need for a second amp ? My plan for this amp involves a max of maybe 700 watts RMS but allows me to add to it if i needed down the road.
  12. Hi there , i currently have a 70 amp alternator , mercury marine 863077-1 , with a single battery. I want to invest in a new audio system that will incorporate subs, tower speakers etc. I Imagine i need to change the single battery into am dual battery , what kind of switch have people ordered for this ?? model numbers please. Also, this new system will have a fusion 2000 watt amplifier which i imagine will need a larger production of amps , what model of alternator have people used successfully here ?? Ideally one that bolts up and doesnt require any modifications. Thanks
  13. I appreciate the thoughts, I'm wrestling with this. Its entirely possibly i may have to replace head unit with a wired remote ... what models have people tried ?
