Particles are contained in the separator bowl for later disposal or discharged automatically. When using filters, the solids are usually captured in a disposable cartridge, which needs replacing regularly. Coalescers can only work if the lube oil is almost particle-free. Most often, a coalescer module works with filters so that both solid particles and water are removed in one system.

  5. Previously, the most common transformer oil dehydration processes were centrifugation and filtration. In the former case, the centrifugal force separates the processed media into several layers. Centrifuges can remove only emulsified water. This is not enough, so the process is usually only used as a preliminary stage of oil purification. Besides, centrifuges are quite power-hungry. Using Transformer Oil Filtration System significantly improves the dielectric strength of oil and the quality of transformer oil dehydration. Yuneng manufactures the Transformer Oil Filtration Machine, designed for various processing rates. This Oil Filtration Machine dehydrates the oil by passing it through a molecular sieve in sorbent cartridges filled with granulated zeolite. Another efficient method of transformer oil dehydration involves high temperature and vacuum. First, the oil is heated; hot oil passes into a vacuum chamber. The combined influence of temperature and vacuum causes intensive emission of water and gas from the oil, which is spread as a thin film on the surfaces inside the vacuum chamber. The heat and vacuum principle is employed for transformer oil dehydration in Yuneng's oil purifier. This type of equipment is more efficient and reliable than centrifuges. Besides, it consumes 3-4 times less electric power.
  6. The necessity for transformer oil dehydration and degassing is known for a long time. Transformer oil is used in power equipment where it provides cooling and insulation protection. Over time aggregated moisture, gasses and solid particles can seriously affect these properties. To remove moisture, gasses, and solid particles transformer oil filtration plant needs to be used. Transformer (Insulating) Oil act as a medium for insulation in the transformer, circuit breaker, high voltage instruments, etc. Transformer Oil is required to be filtered before use and even filtration is required after periodical time. Filtration helps in removal of Moisture content, Dissolved Gases, Acidity, Sludge, Corrosion and other unwanted impurities, thus it helps transformer oil to improve its dielectric strength and Moisture content removal in transformer oil.
  7. Transformer oil testing is performed for both new products and for regenerated oil. Water content is a part of the testing is both cases. Knowing the amount of water in the oil is indicative of its quality, and provides information on the causes of oil and solid insulation dielectric strength deterioration. The highest allowed concentration of water in transformer oil depends on the type of equipment; on average, no more than 10-20 ppm (grams per ton) is allowed. Detecting such a small amount of water is not simple, and the methods used for the testing must be highly precise and sensitive. Higher concentrations of water may cause transformer failure, so using a transformer oil dehydration machine is a mandatory measure. Some of the most common methods of measuring the amount of water in the transformer oil are: filtration; gas chromatography; mass spectrometry; the calcium hydride method; photoacoustic spectroscopy.

  11. At the moment Turbine Oils are cleaned by centrifuge, which removes contamination and free water. A centrifuge cannot remove emulsified water from turbine oils, which acts as a catalyst to increase oxidation, causes foaming in oils and reduces component life. One of the major problems of continuous water presence in the oil is the formation of varnish, which is a thin insoluble film deposit that is usually found on bearings and servo-valves. To handle these greater stresses, oils with better dielectric qualities are required. Also, the lower residual water content in insulating fluids and material must be maintained.
