  1. 2010 sunesta 284, VP 8.1L... im wanting to replace the gauges - my tach is inaccurate and the inside of the bezel is flaking some kind of coating and has become almost unreadable. it looks like there is nothing from chaparral on a wiring schematic. Which is a disappointment - the dash wiring looks like a bowl of spaghetti. so my question is, does anyone have any guidance to replacing the factory instruments? I would also like to add a 9" SIMRAD display

  4. i know this is an old thread, but i also have a volvo penta 8.1L and i’m looking at replacing my risers and exhaust manifolds with the stainless marine setup- stainless risers with aluminum manifolds. wanted to see if anyone would want to share their experiences. thanks!
  5. i just recently bought a 2010 sunesta 284 with the 8.1L GI-J Volvo Penta.there is scaling on the inside of the bezel on my tach. i would like to replace, however, vee three no longer manufactures the square gauges. i would like to use a digital unit and/or use a large multi function simrad or garmin unit. does anyone have any experience with this type of conversion? cost, success, issues? thanks!
  6. thanks for your response- i’m really just trying to decide the feasibility, as the factory tach works, but the bezel is pretty clouded and since v-3 no longer makes it, i was looking for alternatives
  7. can you tell me which simrad unit you are using? i have a sunesta 284 with the VP 8.1L and i’m interested in changing my analog gauges to a single display

  10. i just installed the Aqua marine deck in my sunesta 284. I love it. It’s easy to put down as long as you plan and work slowly.   12. just purchased a 2010 Sonesta 284. With the Volvo Penta 8.1 L. The multifunction tachometer works but the basil is pretty clouded. I’ve tried to get a replacement part however vee-three instruments no longer manufactures this tachometer. My question is can I replace all of the gauges with a Simrad or similar multi function touchscreen monitor?
  13. just purchased a 2010 chaparral Sonesta 284 with the Volvo Penta 8.1 L. I’m replacing all of the pulleys because I’ve already shredded two belts. I’m stuck on the power steering pump pulley. The pulley tool from AutoZone does not work. What do I use? And then how do I get it back on?
