Anything that involves being on the boat. Oh yeah, and also my 1967 convertible SS camaro but that doesn't float.
  1. Just got back from Powell and it is still one of my favorite places on the plannet. The water level was low but rising 6-8 inches per day. A little windy at times but June wasn't quite so hot. We found a nice cove accross from Davis Gulch up the escalante to park the housebout. My 204ssi hit 50mph and ran like a champ. We are already talking about another trip next year.
  2. I just added 2 hot tube heater vents to my 204ssi. The kind that you can pull out/extend and stuff down your life jacket to warm up after a chilly ski session. It works great and it cost me under $300 to buy the kit from Maradyne Marine. I took a bit of labor on my part but was way worth it. I don't know why Chaparral or any of the other bow rider manufacturers don't offer this upgrade as an option. Why should the folk buying Mastercrafts, Tige, and Malibus be the only guys to have this feature. It worked great at lake Powell last week. Not sure how I lived without it.

  4. Yeah, I expect the water level will be much lower for a while. That should make for a lot more beaches to look for houseboat parking. Im thinking we might try heading up the Escalante to see what we can find.
  5. I would like to buy one as well. I local upholstery shop can fabricate one but that is a pain.
  6. I called my 08 204SSI......................SKI YOU LATER
  7. I just booked my houseboat at lake powell after a 12 year haitus. I cant wait to see how my 08 204SSI does at this lake since the altitude is much less than the normal mile high here in Denver. However, with the water level lower than it was in years past does anyone have any suggestions for good houseboat camping spots in either the Escalante or Moki Canyons?
  8. I used the majic eraser pads on my seats for the first time. Wow, they work better than any other vinyl cleaner I have ever tried. I highly recommend giving them a try. They get all of the gunk out of the grain of the vinly. Awesome!
  9. Yep. Just wax them off. The come right off. Plus your boat needs wax anyway to stay looking sweet!
  10. We have a lot of rain and flooding in Colorado today. Hey, maybe if my street floods I can lauch the boat and wakeboard in my neighborhood. Last night I cleaned my entire interior including the vinyl with the Mr. Clean magic pads. Wow! Those things really work well. My seats literally look brand new again. Im going to go buy a whole box of those things.
  11. Has anyone added perfectpass to their chaparral stern drive? I have a 204ssi and I see Perfectpass can be added to any boat with a cable driven throttle system and they even offer the speedometer guage with the Chaparral logo on it. Its about bucks and I hear it is great for wakeboarding and waterskiing. Has anyone installed one? Was it hard to install and do you think it was worth it?
  12. I have one on my 204ssi and they don't really add enough drag to make a difference. If you don't beach the boat then don't get one. But if you want to pick people up onshore or beach the boat I would say put it on. Its better than gel coating your boat every year. You can buy them in colors if you want it to stand out. Are you able to even see my keel guard in this pic? Its there.
  13. Here is my 2008 204ssi. I bought it new with the 5.7L 300hp volvo penta because I lose a few ponies at my altitude here in Denver. I love this boat partially because it does fit into my garage (by 2 inches). The bimini top is integrated into the chaparral logo'd wake tower. This is my 2nd chaparral and I expect I will be sticking with the brand because they are great boats. I named my boat "ski ya later". Gotta match the truck to the boat as well.
  14. I might recommend an Infinity Basslink. As you know, space on a boat is a premium. This unit is a self powered 10" sub. I have put this in 3 vehicles including my boat. Quite honestly, it puts out more bass than you can tolerate in a car but in a boat or a convertible car it works great. Plus, it is small and doesnt need a external amp. You can even tap off of speaker lines instead of using an RCA input. Additionally, it has a wired volume remote that you can mount under the dash. They go for about [no pricing per Terms of Service]. Here is a link. http://www.infinitys...y=US&Region=USA
  15. RESOLUTION: I never would have guessed it but the root cause ended up being the propeller after all. I am glad because this is the easiest and cheapest thing to fix. I put the Volvo 19 pitch, 3 blade, aluminum prop back on the boat and the RPMs went up to about 4900-5000 which is close enough. The Mercury 19 pitch, 3 blade, cupped stainless steel prop is simply too much prop. I didn't realize that the Mercury props are a larger diameter than Volvo props. So, happily to report the new Chaparral is working just fine. I will be shopping for a Volvo 4 blade stainless prop soon to optimize performance but at least I don't have to worry about any engine problems. In case you were wondering, I did 50mph with the crappy alumunim prop at 5700 feet in elevation. Not bad considering 3% loss of HP for every 1000 feet in elevation. That extra 51 HP I would gain at sea level could probably push me up over 60 MPH with the right prop. Now all I have to do is get some good weather and its time to hit the lake.
