  1. I just purchased a Garmin GPSMap 741. I also purchased all of the cables to connect the chart plotter to my 2002 Mercruiser 496 mag. It is old technology I know but SmartCraft enabled none the less. I am using a CAN gateway (converts CAN to NMEA 2000 to plug into the GPS. Equipment list: Lowrance 000-0124-69 Nmea 2000 Starter Kit (000012469) Mercury-Mercruiser 8M0165589 NMEA 2000 CAN-P SmartCraft Gateway 1-4 Engines Mercruiser Quicksilver Oem Part # 84-879981T30 Harness Assy (has one resistor) Mercury Boat Terminator Smartcraft 859318B1 (the second resistor) 4-W
  2. Hi everyone, I'm in the process of installing a Mercmonitor and Livorsi gauges in my '08 Signature 250 with a Merc 350 Bravo 3. It is a Smartcraft engine; however, upon looking at the engine it appears the main Smartcraft CAN harness is disconnected. Upon pulling out the helm panel, the master tachometer is connected by a 6 pin deutsch harness instead of a Smartcraft harness. I'm very confused. When I start the engine it displays "Smartcraft" on the tach. Does anyone have any ideas on why the CAN would not be running to the helm? Is this normal for a Chaparral with Smartcraft? Thanks, John
