  1. Our 2004 Chaparral 290 Signature is undergoing surgery! The fuel tank has to be replaced due to a persistent leak identified last October. Fiberglass workers have already removed the Aft cabin floor to expose the tank (and ventilate). Talks now indicate that further cuts will be necessary to get the tank out. They are proposing to remove the bulkhead in the engine compartment (mid cockpit) in order to be able to maneuver the tank out but at additional cost and time and obvious surface area intrusion. So the question to the forum is,: 1) Does this seem extreme for those who have been
  2. Hi All, I have a 2013 Chaparral 246 SSI purchased August last year, since I purchased it the depth finder has never work, my dealer spoke to chaparral and concluded that the transducer must be faulty. They have supplied me with a new one free of charge, but i am wondering how easy it is to replace this now I have it, and where about it is located? The depthfinder on my boat is linked to the smart craft gauges so it is digital, there is not a dedicated depth finder gauge. Any help or advice would be appriciated!
  3. I'm not looking to start another discussion of wood vs composite I'm just looking to see what year Chap stopped using wood in the stringers and floors of their 23-24 ft line particularly the 236 ssx. Are the transoms still wood?

  5. So I bought my 2000 240SSi last September & hoped I bought a great boat. One owner, service by the dealer, rack kept under cover... Just finally getting into some of the nitty gritty on the boat & finding things yo never want to see. Water in parts of the hull! The port side of the boat appears to be really dry, but found water under the gas tank & inside the starboard side floor. This is how I found it. Any suggestions or info on how these hulls are built is appreciated. 1) Removed the bilge pump from the small ledge in front of the gas tank. When I took out one if the screws wate
  6. Was out at the Marina this weekend and heard some folks talking about cleaning and waxing their boat. I have mine cleaned/waxed when it is pulled for the winter, nothing else though. I keep it on a lift in the south river, still gets dirty from going out. Any advice on what is actually needed?

  8. The worst 3 words anyone could say to you, I have a 2004 Sunesta 27.4 Chaparral. I got a call from my marina this past Sunday saying my boat is sinking! Once we pumped out the water... came to find out that the boats hull had delaminated.. on both sides. The Chaparral dealer said he has never seen anything like this.. Long story short..I have had 2 fiberglass guys tell me it was not laid right and that the resin was never applied correctly. Has anyone ever seen this before? I need to advice from Chaparral! Help!!
  9. Take a look at these pic's. Anyone have the same issue? These were taken facing the stern. I have a 2010 216 SSI. I have to lift the engine compartment to view. I am the second owner. The previous owner dry docked stored in the winter, but kept boat in a freshwater slip for two summers. I picked the boat up this September. I noticed the scum line when we see tested the boat, but not the weep. I discovered the weep when I got it in the water for the first time. There are two identical fill holes ( that is what the local dealer said...) one on the Starboard side and one on the Port side. Th
