  1. Hi, Does anyone know the bow eye to transom/(drain plug) measurement for a 1999 Chaparral 240 Signature. The boat is in the water and that particular measurement is not easy to obtain. I'm considering buying a trailer for a boat I plan on purchasing, and this measurement is needed to setup the trailer. I have not been able to find it in any manual and there seems to be nothing on the web which references this exact measurement. Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks, MDFLkey

  4. Hi, I have a 1985 178 boat that has a shot engine cover that needs to be reconstructed. Apparently there are no shop design drawings remaining that detail the size, shape, angles, etc for creating the structural pieces that make up the cover. The remains of the cover I have are in such bad condition that I cannot get any measurements of value. Has anyone out there done this restoration before and could supply specs and/or tips for the reconstruction? I sure would appreciate any information. Other parts in the boat that need replacement are in good enough condition that I can template from them, but the vinyl was the only thing holding the cover together! Thank you. not sure how this board works, so hopefully I will be notified if there is an answer to this post.
  5. I know I'm preaching to the choir but I wonder how the heck Chaparral builds boats without electrical or detailed system schematics /diagrams. Are their building crews so experienced or intuitive that they just know instinctively how to build the boats? Or do they have an apprenticeship program where the details of how to build the boats is handed down by demonstration or folk lore? I think that somewhere, somehow there must be an engineer or designer who draws up some detailed plans and specs on how to build the boats. I'll bet they could make a bundle if they offered their plans and specs to owners. I don't think it would affect their service business that much because even with plans and specs a lot of people wouldn't bother and would take the boat in for service.
