    I got an used 2004 260 Chap. when in the water, the speedometer did not work. I looked in YouTube and seemed to be an easy fix according to the video, just blow the line or get a drill bit in the front of the sterndrive where the pressure is collected, because of some sort of foreign object, but these did not work. I tried to replace the speedometer, but it seems to be working just fine by putting some pressure in the gauge and watch it moving. btw, it is not easy to find an oversize 5" gauge! seems that 3" or 85mm are standard for most models.   2. Hello... I'm the happy owner of a 265 SSI 2002 model. But I feel the boat is much slower than it should be. It's powered with a Volvo 5.7 GXI which I believe is putting out 280hp. At full throttle I'm maxing about 34 on my GPS. The props are in good shape. But I'm not sure of the pitch. It's has DPS. The prior owner put a hydrofoil on the outdrive. It gets right on plane. It's been serviced by a professional mechanic every year. Anyone else with the same boat that can chime in?
  3. Hi fellow Chaparral owners. I have recently acquired a signature 240 fitted with the 5.0 Efi Mercruiser (240hp and only 600 hrs with Bravo 3 leg). She is a beautiful boat but really struggles to get on the plane. Had her fully antifouled and load is usually only 2 (lightish) people, 10 gals water and 30 gallons fuel plus luggage as we live aboard occasionally. At best had 25mph (following sea and wind) but usually about 10 mph because she will just not get up! Changed the 24p prop for a high tech s/s 4 blade 20p with negligible difference. 4000 rpm is about best we can achieve. Engine sounds s
  4. Another thread about another boat got me back to thinking about the performance of our boat. There is very little information online in regards to the performance of the 250 Sig. What I'd like to know is whether the speeds that I have recorded are appropriate for this boat/engine combo.   5. Hi chap owners. I am getting really excited to get the boat in the water this weekend. As the new season is upon us, on the second year of owning my 246sii, I thought I would pose a question to all those who are savvy about speed and pitch control. Last year (at the beginning of the season) during boat orientation the dealer recommended 1/4 in raise on my prop when I reach above 3,000 rpms. However when adjust to about halfway from 1/8 to 1/4 and get into the high 30s the boat will begin to porpoise or the bow will begin to bounce slowly. I have been thinking of the following 3 options: 1.
  6. Hey again, Quick question. The speedometer on my boat would intermittently stop working(It lights up on the dash), but the needle doesn't move at all, but after a day or two on the water it would always fix itself and go back to normal and start working again. For the past few times out, it's been completely dead. Someone told me to clean something or other, but i have no idea where that is and if i can do it while still in the water.
