  1. Boat a used 2017 Chaparral Ski/Fish from Boat Masters Marine in Akron OH. Took it out three times, each time I noticed the trim gauged seemed to stick. The trim would go up and down and during the test drive, the seller didn't seem to think anything was wrong. A took the boat out the following weekend, noticed the trim was down when I arrived to the lake. I thought maybe I had forgotten to put it back up, rookie mistake. Went out the following weekend, the boat started a high pitched beep roughly every 30-40 seconds. Trim gauge would now get stuck half way up, but when I looked the trim was al
  2. Every time I turn on my electronics i get a "No Position Information" alarm on my VHF 100... it is wired to a GPSMAP 5212 via NMEA 0813... also the radio does not show my GPS coordinates.... i have checked the wiring and it does have the four wires connected to the NMEA cable.... i have also tried changing the communication settings in the 5212.... nothing prevents the alarm or allows the radio to acquire the GPS location.... any other ideas as to what's wrong?
  3. I have a 2005 Sunesta 216 with a 5.0 TKS engine. After starting and stopping the engine a few times (to switch out kids while tubing) the alarm stays on after the initial start but always goes off in about 20 seconds. All fluids are at the right level as well as the temp gauge reading is normal. Any ideas?

    Engine Alarm

Hi. I have a 1999 1930 SS with a 305 Mercury EFI engine. It has started having an intermittent alarm at low speed which switches to a constant alarm at high speed. All other gauges are normal. It is in the shop now and they can't find anything wrong other than that the alarm goes off for seemingly no reason. Anyone have any experience with a similar problem?
  5. I've got a 2012 260 Monterey with a 350 magnum. After an overheat condition caused a solid steady alarm and slowed engine The overheat condition was repaired. However I have a curious alarm where the alarm beeps once every 60 seconds. Any clues? thanks Murray
  6. I am getting port shift alarms nearly every time out. It was suggested that I move my shifters back and forth after shutting down the engines. That worked for a while but it seems to be happening for longer periods and more often? Any suggestions?
  7. Hey folks, my alarm (continious) stays on about 50% of the time after starting the engine for about 20 seconds after it cranks. Oil level is good, lower drive oil good, engine temp seems fine. I noticed the engine oil pressure gauge is about 45 when the engine starts then goes to about 60-70 when underway. My hunch is the oil sensor is malfunctioning as everything seems alright. I appreciate your thoughts. 2005 216 sunesta, 5.0 tks engine, 210 hours
  8. This may or may not be an issue; however, recently my 2004 215 SSi with 5.0 Merc and Alpha 1 Gen 2, has been intermittently sounding it's warning alarm. I have no visible issues with the motor (fluid levels, leaks, etc..), and I have no heat issues or pressure issues via my gauges. There is no consistency to when the warning alarm will sound, and it may just beep once or several beeps then stop. This only occurs while we are under way, and never occurs during idle. I should also mention that the risers are not hot (i can touch them), so I assume there is no cooling issue. Mainten
  9. Hello everyone. I have a problem that I cant seem to get to the bottom of. I have repowered my 1998 2335SS, 5.7 EFI gen+. Bad riser and leaked into the cylinder through the exhaust valves rusting the pistons to the cylinders. New everything except alternator. Serial number OLO12155. I put her in the water two weekends ago and ran up and down the river for a good day of break in. Ran perfect like the new engine it is. I kept everything basically stock. I am running at about 70PSI oil pressure, 170 to 180 temp with a 160 thermostat depending on the load it's under. I only idled it through the no
  10. Volvo Penta 5.0 GXI, 2011 206 SSI. I had an alarm go off and red alarm light came on when I accelerated past about 3800 RPM. Yellow check engine light did not come on. Kicked throttle back to neutral and alarm stopped immediately and light turned off. Ran it up to 3500 rpm's and alarm did not go off again, but I was hesitant to push the RPM's past that for fear of setting the alarm back off. Any thoughts on causes before I drag it in for an engine scan? I asked my mechanic and he said might be nothing, keep running it and see if it happens again. Thanks everyone!
  11. I am new to boating and just purchased a 2002 Chaparral 200 SSE, Volvo penta 5.0 carbed. It does not like to start up with out leaving the choke on and abiut 1/4 throttle. It warms up eventually. It will idle in neutral but once it is put in gear it stalls. Start it back up and but it in gear befor it stalls. The boat will run good no alarms and seems to get up to full speed (not sure what that is yet) it runs about a little shy of 5000 rpm. When we cruise around for a while we will slow down to stop and when the boat is in gear and going slow an alarm strats to beep faintly and intermittent
  12. Before launching my boat this season, I replaced both sea water impellers. While doing so, I noticed that the brass pump housings were a bit scored. To be safe I installed new impellers and stainless steel plates on both sides of the impeller on both engines. Occasionally ( I stress occasionally because it doesn't do it every time) after I start the engines, I get a constant alarm. When I rev up the port engine, the alarm stops. Engine temp and oil pressures are identical for both engines. I don't have Smartcraft so I can't tell what the alarm is. It never happened last season with the old imp
  13. Hey Fellas, got a quick question, I could use some help with this alarm problem. I have a 1998 213SS with a 97 5.7l Mercruiser and have just noticed the alarm this year, last year it had no issues. I can cruise at 3000 rpms no problems all day, when I hit max rpms, usually 4600, After about a minute I will get a constant alarm, backing down to neutral for a minute and the alarm goes off by itself. All the things I've checked seem ok, all my fluids look good and all the levels are where they should be, water temp gauge sits at around 120-130, oil pressure guage is at 40-60, and the boat doesn'
  14. I have a 2011 246ssi. The engine runs fine, but the alarm does a short beep about once a minute. There is no text code when the alarm beeps. The beep also happens with the engine not running and the key is just in the on position. Any ideas?
  15. I have a 1999 Signature 240, 5.0, alpha 1. Didnt have an alarm prior to the impeller change. Now I have the most awful constant alarm imaginable. Reservoir for lower unit oil wasn't at first start up because I forgot to check it. I filled it up and tried again with the same alarm. What am I missing and how do I get rid of this noise??
  16. Please help. I have plans to take my son and his friends to the river for his b-day and don't have time to take it to the dealership. I have a 2007 Chaparral 190 ssi with 48 original hours on it. A 4.3 mercruiser engine with the Alpha 1 drive. I took it out today for a while. When you initially turn the key to the on position there is a loud buzzer. This buzzer typically goes off once the boat is crunk. After running the boat near WOT for a while the buzzer comes on. If I back out of the throttle it will go off briefly. Then it comes back on. If I play with the trim it will go off sometimes, b

  18. I have a 2011 216 SSi with a 5.0 Merc Cruiser. I have the one prop which I believe is the Alpha 1. Last week the boat alarm started a one second beep every minute or so. It is the same alarm that sounds when you first turn your key over. It beeps in shallow and deep water. The oil pressure runs between 40 and 80+ (when the rpm's are up) The temp and voltage meter are good. The hourglass on the speedometer flashes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  19. I have discuss I have alarm problems before. The obvious manual "fixes" do not work. After starting the engines and running for 3-4 minutes on warm up an steady beeping alarm sounds. all oil levels checked and are good, temp is fine. oil pressure is fine. Seems to be being generating from the starboard engine. Sensors are seemingly ok, No error codes on the merc code scan. Mechanic thinks it a fuel vapor alarm but no leaks detected. when engine is shut off, alarm continues, If I shut all battery power off alarm seems to reset. Any ideas?
