  1. I've talked with my dealer about adding the new Chaparral manufactured extended swim platform for the H2O series. Chaparral has confirmed that it will fit on our 2012 despite the fact that it wasn't an option that first year of the model. I know there are larger after market swim platforms out there but I want something that doesn't look like a bolt on and my primary goal is to provide some coverage over the lower unit when we have little kids on board who like to jump off the back. Has anyone ordered a chap H2O with the extended swim platform or had one installed? Just looking for some feedback before I spend the money to buy and have it shipped to CO and installed by our dealer. Thanks.
  2. I recently upgraded the stereo in my 2017 H20 21 sport. I also installed a Blue Sea Systems add a battery kit. (#7650) I couldn’t find any good ideas online for inspiration so I thought I would share my project in case there is anyone interested in a similar setup. I chose to go with 2 Infinity Marine amplifiers, (one 4 channel & one 5 channel) Infinity Marine speakers with LED lights. I simply swapped the 6” speakers in the bow & by the front seats & then I added a pair of 8” speakers under the backseats on the sides of the cooler. I stuck with the original head unit. A 10” JL subwoofer is going in the rear starboard compartment. The amplifiers I installed in the storage area under the helm. That was a PITA! I glued some composite boards to a few spots so I could install a panel that the amps mounted to. The wiring from the head units to the amps I ran under the deck via the ski locker & the power wires came from the rear via the starboard side. I replaced the single battery I/O switch with the 7650 in the same spot as the oem. The 2nd battery now runs all the accessories while the oe battery runs only the starter & ignition. At the same time I lengthened the fuel tank vent hose b/c I was having issues last year with water getting into the vent hose leading to issues when refueling.
  3. I have a 2016 H20 sport 21' and in the ski storage locker located between the captain and passenger seat will not drain. There is a drain in the aft wall however the problem is that the fuel tank is pushed up so close to the drain hole that it prevents any water from exiting into the bilge. I have contacted Chaparral about this and they sent me an email with pictures of how to fix. They show to drill a hole in the locker floor board just in front of the hole on the wall and that should do it. However, I have drilled into the floor 3 1/2" and it did not open up. I did not want to drill any deeper. Its so frustrating and now I have a 3" deep hole in my locker. Has anyone else had this problem? It appears that someone didn't take the time to make sure the tank was moved back away from the hole. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. I've been looking around on the forum and am not finding any pics of tower speaker installs. I see multiple discussions but no pictures. Curious about how the wire was ran and how where on the tower the speakers are being mounted. Thanks
  5. My question is in regards to my 2013 H2O 19' Sport. I have an access door with storage on the starboard side under the windshield. On the port side, there is a a similar area, but there is no access door. I was curious if anyone has cut out hole and installed an new access door to increase storage on the boat. I contacted the local Chaparral dealer and they said that they could do it and install the same factory door used on the starboard side. But they said they weren't too sure on much storage space would be available. I was hoping someone has done this already and could post some pictures or possible provide some feedback. My initial thought was that there would be some decent storage space, if a hole was cut out and a door panel was installed. Here is am picture with an outline of where I would cut out a hole for the door. Thanks

  9. Well i finally picked up my 2017 21 H2O Ski & Fish with a Volvo Penta V-6 Gen V 1.66 SX 240 HP http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p440/pogi089/IMG_0026_zpsq1ekglbp.jpg http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p440/pogi089/IMG_5674_zpsdbc2ulfu.jpg http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p440/pogi089/IMG_5673_zpsgl1x5c4y.jpg http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p440/pogi089/IMG_5672_zpssxztzh60.jpg http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p440/pogi089/IMG_5671_zpsadytcxhy.jpg http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p440/pogi089/IMG_5693_zpsukrjgb8v.jpg http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p440/pogi089/IMG_5669_zpskvnrbwz4.jpg

    New H2o 21

Hey guys just picked up my new 21 h2o! Blue hull, matching Bimini, Mercury 4.3 220 hp, deluxe package, cockpit carpet, bow and cockpit covers, and bow filler cushion! Sea trial went well and my dealer and salesman was great to work with. Are we allowed to say where we bought our boats? I would love to give a shoutout.
  11. Hi all, I purchased 2017 21 H2O sport and couldn't be happier. The only little gripe is the throttle just too sensitive. When you're cruising around that issue does not come up, but when you're towing a wakeboarder and need to adjust from 18 mph to 19, the throttle takes taps to adjust. Is there anyway to remedy this?
  12. Can someone please provide the speakers size on H2O with upgraded sound (upgraded to Clarion CMD2). Are they 6.5", 7.7", 8.8"? Or, if you other model but upgraded the sound, what's the speaker size on your boat? Thank you

    Engine choice

What is the difference between these engine choices for H2O? Volvo V-6 Gen V 1.66 SX 240 HP Volvo V-6 Gen V 1.97 SX 240 HP Catalyst Does absence of "Catalyst" in the first choice mean no cat converter? I thought all engines now require cat - am I wrong? If the above two engines are the same, why is the gear ration different? And what does it mean? Thank you

  15. In search for the best way to keep a new-not-yet-purchased H2O at our dock, I started looking at boat davits. Has anyone any experience of keeping their boat up on davits? I think this system would work perfect with the concrete pilings at my dock. What would be the mounting points on the back of the boat? Something like this:
  16. I'm researching what to get between H2O 21 or 216 SSi and cant seem to find comparison of pros and cons for Mercury vs Volvo. From what I read it's mainly service availability for each. So, without stirring Merc vs. Volvo debate, can someone point out the main technical differences between the two? On H2O side the choice is pretty easy between Mercury 4.5L MPI 1.62 Alpha 250 HP Volvo V-6 Gen V 1.66 SX 240 HP Volvo V-6 Gen V 1.97 SX 240 HP Catalyst. I like that the new Volvos have closed freshwater cooling system but not sure if 1.66 to 1.97 ratio would warrant going to Catalyst option. So, why would you chose one over another? On 216 SSi choses a bit more complicated: Mercury 6.2L 2.20 Bravo 3 300 HP Mercury 350 MAG 1.47 Alpha 300 HP Volvo V-6 Gen V 1.60 SX 280 HP Volvo V-6 Gen V 1.66 SX 300 HP Catalyst Volvo V-8 Gen V 1.95 DP 300 HP Catalyst Would you go with alpha or bravo? I think bravo is a bit too much for 216 SSi which mainly will be use for cruising and watersports. Is Merc 350 MAG older that 6.2L? Should I still consider Bravo 3 even if I keep the boat in water year-round? Your input is appreciated. P.S. For additional info, I'll keep the boat at my dock, always in the water (Miami).

  18. Hey guys, quick basic and newbie question. But first a little of background so you will know what you're dealing with here LOL. I am a female, recently divorced, got the boat in the divorce. It's an H2O Sport with a 4.3 Mercruiser V6. The boat is at my dad's house in East TN for the winter and all he did for winterization was remove the battery and keep in dry place and drain all the water out of the engine block. Nothing we found in the owner's manual or online said we had to use antifreeze, so we didn't add any. I'm in the process of selling the boat and have a buyer that wants to take it out for a test drive. What does my dad need to do to get it prepared for the test drive at minimum? He's put the battery back in, but we simply aren't sure how to or if we need to add water back into the engine. Any advice would be appreciated. If all else fails, I'll just have to bite the bullet and shell out the money to take it to the marina and get it ready. Last year that was about $400 and I truly don't feel everything they did was necessary... it only had about 40-50 or so hours on it at that time.....OUCH!!!
  19. I am thinking of purchasing a 19' h2o with 220hp sport. I live in westchester ny and will be docking in Long Island sound. Looking to cruise fish and relax with family. I need any input and advise if this boat will be suitable for the sound or is it strictly a lake boat? I greatly appreciate all insight from experienced boaters.

  22. Hoping to find someone looking to upgrade into a bigger boat.. I'm looking for the 19' fish and ski... Thanks, Rob
  23. hi everyone. iv'e upgraded the stereo system in my h2o 19,instead of the @#$%@#y jensen "system" that came from chaparral. it's a sony marine reciever + stereo remote + 6 speakers + sub + 2 amplifires i think it's a shame that chaparral are installing this very standard stereo (not to mention the 1 way @#$%@#y speakers) comparing to sea ray 190 that comes with a sony stereo + 4 sony speakers as a standard what do you think? you can see my new stereo in this link http://forum.chaparralboats.com/index.php?showtopic=22841
  24. Hi, I am new to this forum and to boating. I recently bought the 21' H2O, and I am loving it. I purchased a Garmin echomap 50s GPS unit for the boat, and I am currently using it solely as a GPS unit. It is plugged into the 12v dash outlet with an adapter I attached to the black and red wires. I am coming up on the 20 hour service soon, and wanted to use the opportunity to install a transducer that will allow me to use the Garmin unit as a fish finder. Any advice on which type of transducer I should purchase (in-hull, through-hull, or transom mount)? The boat sits in a mooring field and will be trailered very infrequently. thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions
  25. I have been having trouble with the bilge. Initially I blew the fuse. Replaced the fuse and it worked for a bit. Now I seem to blow fuses and it does not appear the pump works at all on manual or with float switch. The pump is located at the bottom of the engine compartment and close to the transom out of reach. Anyone know how to service the pump in this situation?
