Swuswap Lake - 2011-07-24 to 31

Recommended Posts

Hey gang,

We just got home from a week long trip to Shuswap Lake, BC. From where we live, it's about a 5 hour tow over the mountains.

Here is a quick map of the area --> CLICK FOR GOOGLE MAP <-- I also added some pins to the map showing where we stayed each night on the lake.

We had a great week. Weather was 'fairly' good. A few overcast days, a few sunny and clear days, and little to no rain.

As an added bonus...one day before we left, both CJ and I received our new LifeProof Cases for our iPhone 4's, so we were able to use our iPhones underwater...pretty cool.

Here is a YouTube Video I made underwater!

And as always, we took a whole bunch of photos...so, here they are:

We made it on the water...yay (that's our friend's SeaRay who joined us for the week)

Our second night, we decided to stay on Neilson Beach. Neilson Beach is the one spot on the lake where the Park Rangers ignore the 11pm 'quiet time' and a lot of Houseboats pull on to this beach and party.

The downside of Neilson Beach is that there is a lot of garbage and debris on the beach and under the water (as you can see in the video above).

Anyways, it was a fun night...

Day 5 took us down the main arm of the lake towards Celista. This arm of the lake is where all of the private cabins are located as well as the Provincial Campgroud...so this arm is very busy and also does not contain a lot of secluded areas for dropping an anchor. CJ has some family in Celista, so we stayed on a friend of a friend's mooring over night. It ended up being a little windy that night and there was no protection...so it was a very bumpy and not much sleep that night.

Here's some shots heading down Seymour Arm...

Day Six, some more friends joined us, and we anchored in a cove in Cinnemousun Narrows Provincial Park. Our view straight across from us was Neilson Beach (where the Houseboats go to party).

A lot more Houseboats there this night than the night we stayed there (Monday vs. Friday, makes sense)

We also departed and made our way into the fourth arm of the lake, Ansty Arm. We found another nice cove to anchor in for the day & night.

Great photos - many familiar to us. We love the Shuswap and Mara lakes and spend 75% of our time in Sicamous etc May to September.

About 5 hours over the mountains from Calgary.

Upgraded from a 2009  SeaDoo Challenger 180 to a 2021 Chaparral VRX203 this year. Really enjoying it.
