What are some cool modifications you've done to your boat?

Recommended Posts

Straps. Or maybe spacers on the drive rams. I have never used those, though.

I suppose even if the drives were painted with the same paint as the bottom paint, like Burke said, shouldn't there be a certain "something" between the one thing and that other thing, at the end of the thing?

No connecting rod between out drives. Or at least none is visible.  Denny.

Nope, neither of those, bro.

I don’t have a Volvo but looks like the trim hydraulic don’t have anodes

The VPs don't have anodes on the trim cylinders like the Mercs.  They only have that monstrous anode on top of the exhaust plate that takes care of all that so no, that's not it.

The VP has two independent steering rams only and no connecting rod and are controlled by the DTCS and/or joystick and can move independently, trim and directional hence no need for a connecting rod.

This is good, you guys are certainly all over it.  If you go back and read through the answers, Burke was the closest one with what he mentioned, but I'm not sure if that is the case and if the bottom paint used on that boat is in fact safe to use on the outdrive, then it doesn't need what I think is missing.  If it isn't painted with an outdrive safe paint, then they screwed up badly according to everyone on here who's constantly yelling about the affects of copper paint against aluminum parts.

First mod to new 21 H2O Sport.

Added a USB outlet in the glove box next to the AUX outlet. Now we can charge the phone and play Pandora if needed.

Nice, it's all about convenience, and creature comforts. And it always fun to create and modify.  Denny.

It's amazing how much work we all put into those little outlets.  I swapped the 12V one in the cabin for a dual USB and voltage meter, then, after putting a Bluetooth unit on the radio above it, swapped the first one back to 12v, pulled the radio's aux and USB port, and move the dual USB over there.  I can't find anything fun to rotate in this year :D

Go to the boat shows, or look at other peoples boats and see what they have done, believe me when you do the old light bulb will light again. Half of my projects, I came up with, the other half, I modified something that was already done to fit my needs. That is how I built this, smaller version of a larger one.  Denny.

Boat hasn't even seen the water for the first time yet and you're already poking and drilling holes in a brand spanking new boat, sticking USB outlets in and all? :haha-7383:

That's awesome.  Do those H2Os come with a GPS or not?  If not, I see that mod coming in the not so distant future.

Hey Chuck, Denny from Toledo here, good to here from you. Do all the showers have the additional holes on the bottom now? Going on the 3rd season now, and haven't cleaned the out-drive yet.

Removed the Clarion CMD5, remotes, and replaced it with a Fusion Ra70N plus two NMEA 2000 remotes.  Love the new setup.  I now have NMEA 2000 running from the transom, to the helm, and to the cabin.  Time to start adding N2K sensors elsewhere!

Here are some pics of the new install:

Looks great. Very nice work. Now for some Elton John, the Doobies, Clapton and Bob Seger. Or, some yacht rock... Paul Davis, etc. Rip away. My wife does every time I connect the Bluetooth.

Saw your install on Facebook. Love it! Can't wait to get mine out of storage to start work on her.

Did you pick up any of the MS-NRX300 dust covers? Google search link
