Cracks in the bulge under the engine

Recommended Posts

I was attempting to test my bilge float switch when I slipped and was basically wrapped under around the engine. While figuring out what I could grab onto to heave myself out, I noticed three 6" cracks in the bilge under the engine. Has anyone else seen this? I "think" I can down there to seal them, of course I am worried about possible damage as the bilge usually has some water in it during use.

Not a big deal as the last coat of resin applied during layup is impervious. The cracks you see are in the spatter seal that is shot in there to make the color uniform and easier to keep clean, after the actual lay-up layers cure. If it's an issue for you, take a small 3/4" nap roller and a high solids 2 part epoxy, and apply as cover coat. W

Pictures? Spider cracks seem normal with gecloated surfaces. The hull down there is pretty thick and there is no wood in the center of the boat so you should be okay.
