Helm Hole

Recommended Posts

I need to replace and relocate the VHF radio that came with the boat. This will leave a nice hole in the helm. Does anyone sell a flat plastic cover that i can install over the cutout? Has anyone else done this?

Don't know if you can get a store bought cover or not. Get creative, either you or a fab shop can make something in plastic, or teak, or mahogany to cover the hole.

The piece of wood (Mahogany) in the photo is covering the hole left behind, when I had to get new Bennett trim indicators, and relocate them. Which are now located in the upper left hand corner of my helm display. Denny.

I used 1/4" starboard and traced out the radio mount bracket to make mine. You can get some sheet plastic from a stereo installation shop as well if you want to go that route.

Holy smoke ... nice find!

Not only custom fab starboard, but many more familiar looking items.

Reasonably priced hard to find Chap hardware: http://www.boatoutfitters.com/full-catalog?attribs=581

Holy helm Denny! That's a lot of instrumentation for a relatively small boat!

At my age, I need all the help I can get.

Small boat, BIG WATERS!

Denny.
