buzzman
Boat won't go over 3000 RPM lose of power and shakes a bit. Could it be the spark plugs. 2006 signature 276 Volvo Penta 8.1 gi-g please help! Thanks
mightys4
I recently had a similar issue, it was the high pressure fuel pump. They are apparently notorious due to design and paint on the inside of the pump or assembly. Check your fuel pressure. You will likely need plugs as well as it fouls the plugs running such low pressure.
cyclops2
If you have a distributor cap ? Check it & rotor for cracks, salty crusts, carbon tracks. I find most problems are ignition parts. Except for the STUPIDEST Volvo premeditated destruction of a pump by painting the insides of a fuel system ..........True deliberate destruction of a engine that can die in a storm. When needed most. Recall anyone ? Free of charge ?
buzzman
Thank you both. Is it difficult to replace the pump as I see the part online? Can I do it myself?
Restless
Had same problem, once fuel pump is replaced you might as well pull fuel rail and injectors as they will be fouled with paint chips
buzzman
thank you all. Did your boats rev at normal RPMs on neutral like mine and not rev over 3000rpm once in gear?

Restless
I have twin engine set up, at idle everything the same, once under way one engine would rev up to 4700 other couldn't get over 3400, soo top speed 28 mph. Fuel pump and injector rail was my problem
Big Fun
Those fuel pumps are costly, have a good mechanic tune it up first and check out the problem.
