2006 256ssi Trim Tab installation

7 posts in this topic

My mechanic will not install the Bennett 12x12 Trim Tabs that I purchased because the Transom is curved on the 2006.  Does anyone have solution on how they installed them on their boat?  Thanks

Try doing a search within the forum.  I installed a pair on my 256 SSI a couple years ago and there were a few good topics others posted on here that really helped me out.  I did the Lenco tabs, and screwed them in with the curve of the transom and they work fine.  If you PM (private message) me, I'll look to see if I can find the info that I printed off that one of the fellow members on here did a step by step of his installation that I used.  Honestly the hardest part is drilling the hole through the hull, and measuring about 1000 times and convincing yourself you can do it.

I just used epoxy filler to fill the void on the outer edge. I screwed the plate on (with out tab fitted) one day with the filler behind it,not to tight.

The next day after it had hardened I finished the job.
