Deep Creek Lake, MD

4 posts in this topic

We might launch at Deep Creek Lake, MD this Saturday, June 17.  Anyone else frequent this lake?  Any recommendations or advice for this lake/area?

We usually boat in Pennsylvania; however, some relatives reside at Deep Creek so we would like to try a new body of water.

I vacationed there a few times for a week at a time.  Really nice lake but it's small.  They have a 25' size limit I believe.  I had my 21 footer when we went there.  There's 1 waterfront restaurant that is cool and there's a little strip mall along the water that you can boat to.  We used to boat there in the AM and go to the coffee shop.  I haven't been back in 10 yrs. but I really enjoyed Deep Creek.  The water is a little crisp but very clean.

We typically boat at Youghiogheny River Lake and Raystown Lake.  Raystown is obviously larger than Deep Creek, but I haven't been able to confirm if the Yough Lake is bigger than Deep Creek.

Do the restaurants have free dock space, or do you have to pay?

The only restaurant was UNO.  But it's a lot cooler than your typical UNO.  And free docking space.  I was on Raystown once a long time ago when I had my 18 footer.  Nice lake out there.  Now I live close to Wallenpaupack so that's our home port.  Can go boating after work and spend weekends there.  Another small lake but it's close so...
