Brackish lakes

Recommended Posts

I have recently moved to Houston and want to use my boat (2006 210SSi) at Clear Lake which is a brackish lake.  My boat has only been used on lakes in Oklahoma and therefore not set-up (if any) to be used with salt water.  Can someone help me understand what I need to do (apart from flushing every time we bring it off the lake) to the boat, does it need converting for salt water or anything else i need to think of?

Anodes are the biggie. If you already have aluminum stick with them. Lake Texoma is considered brackish and I suspect other OK lakes are the same (although some are true freshwater).

Theres a thread here somewhere where I was asking the same thing about taking the boat to Bimini. Some good comments there as I recall. A forum search would do you well.

Good luck!
