TDLucas
A potential buyer hand-spun my duo propeller and said it was in bad shape. He could hear the gears turning and could feel the gears turn in the propeller blades. I just got the new lower outdrive back from my mechanic, and I thought the noise was normal. Should I take it back to my mechanic? Does yours make noise?
Ingalp01
Good question? I've never "hand spun" my duo props on the B3... Other than some mysterious vanishing drive lubricant, mine seems in great shape, 545 hours. I'll hand spin it when I get home tonight and see if it makes any noise... Mi3sons
Bravo 3 drives feel knotchy when turned by hand and is normal. unless there is some major malfunction.
brick
On my B3 drive you can "feel" the gears turning, when turned by hand. But it does not feel bad. brick
soldier4402
every time I have turned a drive by hand I could either feel or hear something turning a little. Guess without being there its hard to say.
dn0349
You'll feel the gears but it should be pretty smooth

Bt Doctur
properly shimmed and assembled I have never "felt" the gears mesh. If you can feel them and its clunky something is wrong turning the prop turns the pinion and lower gear set ,also turning at the same time are the F and R gears in the upper. They should not feel binding or rough http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/11/11covr5x.pdf
