So after many years I have purchased a dock and am now leaving my 2002 242 in the water for the season.  My current cover requires it to be secured at the stern.  Not an issue out of the water but while in the water it requires someone to dive in, swim around back and tie it secure.  I am looking at either snap cover or ratchet.  I am leaning more towards a ratchet cover because I am not sure how well my OCD will deal with snaps on the boat.  Wondering if anyone can chime in and let me know their experiences with ratchet covers.  We do have some critters up there, Lake Arrowhead, CA, so that is a concern as well.  Thanks in advance.

I just had a custom ratchet cover made this spring. I really didn't know what was meant by a ratchet cover when it was suggested to me. I just said go with what you think is best. Well, I'm glad it was suggested. I tow my boat with the cover on and haven't had any issues. It's very snug & secure. Just make sure that it is well padded with extra material behind the ratchet.
