Hairline crack left side hull

Need more info on boat and it's history. Could just be a gelcoat crack. Could be an indication of other damage.

Have you put it in the water yet?

If you are sure it wasn't there before, how do you think it happened? Do you have any theories?

I have been using it for 2 years and don't think it was there before. All I can figure may have caused it is hitting a wave (not that big of a wave so didn't expect a crack to form). I contacted Chaparral and am waiting to see if it is covered by the warranty?? no answer yet.

It does however look like only a gel coat crack. I inspected it again today and it seems only on the surface, but why??

Boat info (year/model/etc) would be helpful.

Where is the crack in relation to boats' length? Mid section?

Is there a boat wide bulkhead behind that crack ... something like an engine compartment fore wall?
