284 Sunestra or 287 SSX

3 posts in this topic

My 2000 280 SSI was totalled as a result of IRMA and I have been looking at the newer model Chappy's as a replacement.

I have narrowed my choices down to the 284 Sunestra or the 287 SSX.

The SSX is basically the same hull as my 280.  I loved the ride of the boat.  It was solid on the water, but handled like a much smaller boat.

I was hoping that owners of each model could offer pros and cons.

Any comments, are welcomed.

Sincerely,

I think it`s the same hull for both models. It will probably boil down to which floor plan you prefer. The Sunesta will have the wider front end (deck boat). Both are good boats.

same hulls from water line down, the Sunesta will sit a bit closer to the water at the bow and in a steady chop will probably see a bit more spray than the SSX.  the SSX will sit higher at bow but doesn't have access at bow - no ladder.  layouts are very similar both fun boats.
