What to look for in a seatrail?

Recommended Posts

I have recently signed up for purchase of a 2007 270 signature and the sea trail will take place soon. What all do I need to get inspected? The boat has a Volvo with 375 hp with less than 100 hours in it as well as a generator.

In addition to checking that all system are working, make sure the engine runs up to the correct WOT RPM range for the Volvo power package.

I would turn every thing on. Pumps, lights, fridge, hot water, charger, check wiring, check the oil , is it clean? I would just go though the whole boat. With 100 hrs the engines them themselves must be in good shape. BUT, I would look at the e. manifolds and risers since there over 10 years old. This is were a surveyor comes in, unless your that handy.

Outdrive oil, I would check it for water.

Check the trim pumps. If it is a Volvo. They have been redesigned because they break at the age of the boat your looking at. The fittings should come out the sides not the top of the unit. It is very expensive when they go out.
