Water Leak in Galley

Recommended Posts

I have a 2001 260 Cruiser.  When i washed it the other day I found the seat around table a bit damp.  Any thoughts on how it may be getting in?

A couple things..It can either be the window/hatch above you or it's simply morning dew/humidity.  For some reason Chaparral did not install a gasket between the alumunium frame of that hatch and the boat itself.  I unscrewed the entire hatch, put it to the side and I put a large bead of silicon caulking/adhesive down, then I re-screwed the hatch back down.  Second, get yourself a good Marine de-humidifier for your cabin (about 70 deer).  On those mornings with lots of dew in the air, having inside air circulating will prevent water from accumulating and obviously have some dampex containers down there too will help.
