Engine Alarm

Recommended Posts

Hi.  I have a 1999 1930 SS with a 305 Mercury EFI engine.  It has started having an intermittent alarm at low speed which switches to a constant alarm at high speed.  All other gauges are normal.  It is in the shop now and they can't find anything wrong other than that the alarm goes off for seemingly no reason.  Anyone have any experience with a similar problem?

Low battery voltage will drive an ECM nuts. Check voltage at the battery and 12 vdc feed to ECM at idle and at speed. Also, inspect grounds as it sounds like you may have a loose one.  W

Could also be a alternator going or a drive belt slipping. Old enough. Post the dash gauge voltages at idle & revved up.
