Vinyl Cleaning Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Magic erasers AKA melamine foam is an abrasive. You're sanding your parts clean, there's no magic or chemical cleaners in them. Eventually you'll wear away the surface. Very bad. They also scratch the heck out of anything glossy (gel coat, glass, stainless steel)

Never ever use them on anything you care about.

Keep your boat seats dry and clean. Save from rain. If the weather of your area is warm then you have to more care about your boat seats. Because if your seats are wet for long time then it cause to pink stains.  These bacteria produced by the actinomycete bacterial species.

Magic Erasers do work, but you have to be careful. They work like a very fine piece of sand paper and remove a little the top surface.

That is why you have to put on a protector, because you have opened up the surface.

I have used them to remove marks on painted walls, and when you look at the eraser, it has some of the color of the wall on it.

Denny.

Looks wimpy, a little costly for what you seem to be getting, but what a product for the boater! I used them on multiple surfaces and a variety of dirt problems cleaning my 183SS. Great for removing aluminum rub marks off 'glass even gets misc. scuff marks off diamond decking. mildew and dirt on vinyl...all kinds of stuff.

Don't know what's in them, but they keep working until they fall apart.

Two suggestions though. 1. They don't need much water. Don't let them float in the bucket for hours. 2. Don't give up on them. Rub another 15-20 seconds. They will produce when other products fail.

The secret's out.

I'm going to keep a Magic Eraser handy. I have several in the house, but never took one to the boat.

My stains are all SPIDER poop & seagull poop.  Straight bleeech on white surfaces. NONE on the sewing threads at seams  !!! Fantastic or 409 applied very lightly on colored surfaces.
