I'm sure you've seen the 2007 276 ssx at seattlewatersports. That is an awesome boat with the 525. I'm sure the price will keep coming down.Although I am a cuddy cabin guy so the 255 and 275 are my favs.

Nice engine....
Although I am wondering why they call it the 525, when is is really a 502? It doesn't make 525hp either according to the Merc website either.
Really sharp looking engine though.....

Okay, so we've met with the dealers, walked around the boats, looked at the prices, and have narrowed it down to the trailerable cruisers called the 250/270.
For the same price - I can get a 2009 270 (the BIG 270) or a 2010 270 (the old 250).

Does anyone have any imput on these? The old 270 seems to have more standard equipment - and the fiberglass liner is nice - but the galley looks cheap with the fiberglass in comparison to the 250 (little 270) wood galley.

What is anyone's experience on these?

Use will be on big water of Lake Huron and Thunder Bay and such - maybe making some longer distance cruises. But we also want sufficient power to tube and play with. Do some diving, etc.

Why did Chaparral stop making the (big) 270?

Thanks!
